Will an indoor cat return back home if it ran away?

Our 2 year old male cat which was an indoor cat ran out last night and has not returned in the past 24 hours. He always tried to get out. When he does we get him from the neighbor’s bushes but this time he is nowhere to be found. He has all his claws, he is fixed, but he does not have Rubie shots. What are the chances he will return?

Just keep going outside periodically and call his name. Go to where he likes to go whenever he gets and call his name. Put signs around the neighborhood and ask other neighbors if they mave have seen him. I hope you find him!

Probably should’ve asked this in the cat section, but cats are pretty smart and more often than not find their way back home.
We once had neighbors move in and their cat wandered right into my yard the next day, at which point my dogs chased/scared him big time. He ran off and never came back. But I don’t think he considered that his ‘home’ yet so probably not relevant.
If he was unhappy in his home then he won’t come back. He just wants to explore the world man, most cats definitely come back, my cat use to leave for mating then come back. If he doesn’t get hurt out there in the wild, then he should most likely come home. If he doesn’t, it will hurt but it all happens for a reason and it’ll get better.
Is he from Egypt? Well you know Egyptians used to worship cats and have orgies and the like. I think you should start around Zimbabwe.
well it all depends on how long u hav had the cat and if u wer mean to it
…but if u hav had it for 2 years then it will more than likely return,unless it gets killed (sorry to bum you out)
Chances are pretty good the cat will return..
I would keep looking & keep calling his name, maybe take some tuna fish or salmon out and see if he can smell it.. and if he can–he should come running home!
Well I can’t answer that. Right now all you gotta do is post lost signs and pray that he will come back. Right now since he has never been outside right now honestly I think he only has a 25% chance of returning home.

For example, my dad had a siamese and his parents didn’t want him. They dropped him about 3 hours away. The cat found his way back home!
That’s the thing with animals, they’re unpredictable. We can’t read their little minds. The best thing you can do is be proactive. Take action, rather than just hoping he does it himself. I would call the shelter every day to see if they have found him or if anyone has turned him in. I would also check around all the neighbors to see if anyone has seen him recently. Put up signs and hope for the best. I had an outdoor cat that came back on a regular basis until he found something better. Then he came back to say good bye and I never saw him again. Good luck and I hope you find him. I know how I would feel if my Pumpkin got outside.
as long as he doesn’t get killed, he’ll return eventually. Cats have a very good sense of direction. Once the hunger pangs get to him, he’ll come home. If you live in a relatively quiet neighborhood, away from heavy traffic, he’ll be fine. Relax.
When the cat gets back, check him over thoroughly for signs that he was in a fight. Diseases like rabies and FIV can be contracted through fights. Then get him to the vet for that rabies shot and keep his immunizations up to date.
From what I know cats are home pets, meaning they’re attached to the house they live in. It is likely your kitty will come back =)
He may come back home, just occasionally go outside and call for him in the next few days.
most likely he will return my cat got out to before and every time she returns. your cat is use to being fed and will most likely come back for food.
50/50 chance. If he’s never really been outside, he may not know how to get back home. I would keep searching and calling him till you find him.
Sometimes cats just take off like that… my guy disappeared for 2weeks once. He is probably close to the house provided something hasn’t happened to him that would prevent him from coming home like getting picked off by predators or trapped in someones garage etc. I would suggest going out side at night after dark to look for him. This worked for me. Grab a flash light and pan over your yard and bushes looking for little glowing eyes. sit out side by the door he ran out and call for him like you would normally talk to him if he was by you. Make sure you Listen to see if you hear him in case he is trapped somewhere. Maybe grab some food pop the can or shake the food in a dish outside so he can hear it. Cats are more likely to surface at night because that is when they feel safest moving around so if you haven’t tried that I would give it a try
