will an air purifier help with cat litter box odor?
we have a "cat room" for our 4 cats where they have litter boxes, but the room smells and often the smell lingers out into the hallway. i don’t want to leave the window open since the room is downstairs. would an air purifier tower (oe even just a fan) work to keep air cirulating and get rid of the smell?.

An air purifier will help to minimize the odor but not completely eliminate. If you are battling nasty odor, the first thing you have to do is to make sure you are using quality clumping litter with odor control. Litter box hygiene is also very important so if possible, scoop as often as you can.
Yikes. I have 2 litter boxes for 2 cats and my boxes don’t smell. My house doesn’t smell. My mom has 5 cats and I don’t know how many litter boxes. She at one time had 10 cats and 10 litter boxes. Her house doesn’t smell either.
It sounds like you need to clean the litter boxes and change the litter more frequently. It should not smell.
I clean the litter boxes at least once a day but usually twice a day. I change the litter about once a week unless I need to do it sooner. I play it by ear by looks.
edit: Your cats may need a bath too. I recently took my 2 to the groomers. It was money well spent. My mom gives baths to her cats but I don’t feel comfortable doing that. My cats are really good about baths too because my mother has given them baths before.
Use baking soda because it’s non toxic and won’t bug your cats. You can get these things that are meant to stick up in your fridge by Arm & Hammer and use those and stick them to the inside of the litter boxes. Febreze or Oust might work, but usually air fresheners just make the house smell like a mixture of really strong flowers and really strong poop and that’s about it. It doesn’t eliminate or absorb the odor, just tries overpower it.
try one of these, I love mine, it is worth the money and in the long run it is cheaper.
