Why won't my kitten use the cat box?
My kitten that will be 1yr next week refuses to get in the cat box. I’ve tired a small one, large one, ones with or without lids, different types of litter(with deodorizer or not). I try to place her in there and she freaks out. My other cats don’t have a problem. I have to put down puppy pads for her and she now uses those. Anyone know how to get her to use the litter box or is it a lost cause.

Try filling your litter box with dirt from outside. Maybe if she thinks it’s flowerbed outside she’ll use and then start gradually mixing in cat litter and using less dirt. that may help her. Good Luck
My cat Cornbread refuses to use the litter box. I have to take him outside to do his business. He never goes in the house and always holds it till I take him out. He scratches at the door like a dog. Have the vet check her for UTI- she may be in pain while going. If you’ve tried it all with no positive results and she’s doing well with the puppy pads, I’d just go with that.
Is there a certain place where she always goes? If there is move the cat box there and slowly edge it towards where you want your cat to use it. Another way to get your kitten to use the cat box is to simply put its ‘business’ into the box and show him/her what you are doing.
That is so odd. I’ve never heard of a cat who doesn’t use the cat box. It just seems natural for them to use it. If you have tried everything to figure out what was wrong and nothing has worked, I’d say it’s a lost cause and just keep using the puppy pads and live w/ a very weird cat.
Every 15 minutes take your cat to the litter box and dont let them leave for about five mins or until they go potty. When they do go potty give them a treat like a small peice of tuna. You have to stay on top of it constantly just like potty training a child.
