If she’s not spayed, she may be in heat.
Cats are very affectionate when they go into heat.
Possible she’s hungry…? Uh oh….
Haha, no. My cat was the worst ***ch cat you’d ever meet, but occasionally she would just love me to death, ie: licking, purring (which she NEVER ever did), and rubbing. Why? No clue, but cats are weird. She’s probably just happy to be hangin’ with you is all.
There is no such thing as a "dumb question". So, let me see if I can help.
Is she getting enough water? Are you feeding her quality wet and dry cat food? If the answer to that is "Yes", then my next question is:
Is she spayed? Unspayed cats get VERY affectionate when they go into heat.
You didn’t state the age of your kitty. But it sounds like she just loves you to pieces, and is giving you lots of kitty kisses to show that.
My little girl, "Sandy", is a kisser, and also enjoys "grooming" me.
Tho Sandy doesn’t care to be held, she shows her adoration by grooming me, licking the hair on my arms, licking my leg under the blanket. She is usually grooming herself, also, and will alternate between licking her, then licking me.
Enjoy the kitty kisses! Meow!
Well maybe she loves you.
Maybe she likes the smell on you.
No, it’s not a dumb question. Actually, I’ve answered about 5 of these exact questions in the Cat Section!
So, the reasons she could be licking you are….
- She could be showing you her affection. After all, cats groom each other with their tongues, so she’s grooming you to show that she likes you! This is a great thing! This shows that you and your cat have a healthy relationship
- Like the person above me said, if she’s not spayed, she could be in heat (this means she’s wanting to mate with a male cat) and is becoming more affectionate towards you because of this.
- She could be licking you because she’s dehydrated, especially this summer, when it’s smokin’ hot outside!!! Make sure to give her fresh, cold water a couple times per day.
- And finally, she could be licking you because she tastes the salt on your skin. Us humans can’t taste it, but we are actually covered in salt (and no, it’s not just after we’ve been swimming in an ocean! lol!) and cats love salt, so they lick you to taste that salt over and over, because we reproduce the salt over and over!
So there you go!
I hope I helped!
