Why is my cat frightened to death of her new toys?
my youngest cat is my most playful and I have always made her toys and she loves them. She is nearly 2. I make her toys out of fabric, tissues, string and pipe cleaners and i have created fun games we both play with them.
Anyways her toys were getting a bit old and rugged so i decided i would spoil he and get her some new ones.
I got a soft toy on a string with a bell that is a cat toy and 3 pretend mice that squeak, one grey one red and one blue. She is absolutely terrified of all of them. Yes this is the same cat who attacks my Rottweiler cross! She runs and hides whenever i bring out her new toys. She wont have a bar of them. shes petrified of them… why is this and i really want her to play agiain. Now its as if she doesn’t trust me even with her old toys because she is so afraid of her new ones What should i do?

Many cats are brave when it comes to dogs just like yours she isn’t afraid of your rottweiler cross and she isn’t scared of those toys she has a "phobia" of them which to her is worse than ever!
i remember buying my cat a black fluffy mouse it didn’t make a noise but when she set eyes on it she panicked her eyes bulged with fear and when i picked her up her heart was racing so i threw the toy out,
she was brave in other ways such as challenging dogs no matter how big but the toy was only about 2 inches but the way her eyes bulged is strange she showed a "phobia",
so hide the toys away as your cat is unlikely to ever accept them and will always be fear full even if he is brave around dogs!
Its alot of change for a cat so. I think it still needs to get used to it. Leave them out for about 2 weeks so she gets used to them if she is still not used to them then the only option is to recreate the old ones.
