Why does my moms dog try to antagonize my cat?
Bella has been a "single pet" since she was a kitten (she’s 5 now). I just recently moved back home with my parents due to a divorce and my moms boxer (Princess) always seems to tower over my cat and make her meow. She knows she’s not allowed in my room, but she comes in anyway and puts her face right up to my cats face. Then Bella starts meowing really loud. She doesn’t try to hurt her, she just gets in her personal space.
We’ve been here for about 2 months now and Princess just recently started this behavior; the first month she seemed scared of the cat. Why the change all of the sudden? And will they ever get along?
Also, Bella never hisses or tries to scratch Princess- she just meows like she’s really aggravated.

Same reason my pom drags my ferret across the floor by his tail…just wants some animal interaction and play time
It’s a game. I had my cat already when I got my lab. The lab would chase the cat everywhere and I was constantly getting on to her. Then, one day, I noticed that the cat would deliberately walk in front of the dog, then run in front of me with the dog chasing. She was actually trying to get the dog in trouble..haha. Now, they chase, hiss, bark, etc. and play around. I monitor it to make sure it doesn’t get out of had…the dog is big. But, it all started b/c the dog was just curious and wanted a playmate. She has learned when she should leave the cat alone.
Simply because it wants to play and it is just animal nature
The dog is fascinated by this creature that is making all sorts of interesting noises and wants to make friends. At least the boxer is more polite than my dog. XD He nudges them all over and doesn’t care if they swat him. He also wrestles really rough with my kitten, who returns the treatment with spades. Those two love each other.
Princess wants to give Bella a big wet kiss on the lips but Bella keeps saying No.
kind of obvious but dogs and cats dont exactly get along, so it wouldnt be a surprise.
I think that your dog may be a bit jealous and is trying to show dominance over your cat.
