Talk about sick, every day I gotta run the dog out back cause he cleans the cat box, I don’t want him to have the Scooby Snack’s the cat leaves behind

There is protein in their fecal matter and that is what attracts the dog to what I call "Kitty Treats". The sense that protein and hummmmmm..Instant snack. BLEACH!!!!!!
Try turning the boxes around so the dog can’t get to them, or put them in a basement (what I had to do), on a shelf, or in a location the dog can’t get into.
because animals are nasty. it’s their nature
LOL! in our house that is referred to as the kitty cookie buffet. i’m told that there is more sugar in cat food and that’s why dogs like their turds. i have no idea if that’s right or not. i have also heard that you can sprinkle chili powder in the box and it will keep the dog out, but i don’t know if that works. what we do is the room that the litter box is in has a chain on the door, you know those kind that you put on your front door so you can open it and see who is out there? that way the cats can still get into the room and potty but the dogs cant get into it.
Cat poo tastes like fish to dogs. you need to arrange it so that the dog cannot get to it.
ha ha… animals are so cute but you gotta remember that their olfactory sense is super acute. They guide themselves by it and not by what "food" is or looks like.
Every dog I’ve owned has done that. They are soooo gross! If you have smaller dogs, a litter box with a lid will help. Also, a self-cleaning litter box will automatically clean & put it in a container that the dog can’t get open.
Ewwwwww Yuck yuck yuck – there goes my dinner!! LOL
A friend of mine has a dog that eats cat poop out of the cat litter box. We nick named him "Shit Breath". The Vets say it’s a mineral deficiency, try a different dog food.
It is a behavioral instinct. Animals such as dogs, wolfs and the like (who live in dens) share this instinct. It is common for the adults to eat the droppings of their young (in the den) and then go somewhere else to regurgitate/ deposit it. The scent of the puppy poop would attract predators to the den so "moving" it in this way is an instinctual way for them to protect their young.
