It’s just natural for a cat to try to scratch besides it probably feels good to her! She or he might have a itch!
It’s just nature for cats to do that!
because it’s INSTINCT. And if you had her declawed you should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. How would YOU like it if I removed YOUR fingertips at the first knuckle?
instinct! Does she still attack the furniture?>
hey!! U KNOW DECLAWING A CAT HURTS THEM and yea u need help, help wiv ur brain.
ur cats fine. she jz misses doin it. its part of cat nature AND U REKED IT!!
Because this behaviour is innate to cats. Just because you removed its claws doesnt mean you can remove a behaviour that is instilled in them.
My cat is the SAME way!! I is always stratching at his post.
It gives him comfort!!
because it’s like his own spot in our house. He snuggles with it too. Then, he comes and hangs out with us on the couch.
U mean U DECLAWED ur cat?? So inhumane..
Dun U feel bad or guilty??????
habit
That’s just your cat’s instincts! Why on Earth did you de-claw her??? That’s so painful…poor kitty!!
scratching behavior in cats is done for more than just the "sharpening of claws" that most people associate it with. As a cat scratches on a post, she is stretching her arm muscles out to their full length and pulling on them, exercising her toes and feet and shoulders, etc. This is an instinctual behavior and one that they will do regardless of whether they are declawed or not. It has very little to do with the claws.
In some cases, scratching is also part of the "marking" behavior that lets other animals know that this is THEIR territory. Do you have other animals or does your cat seem to prefer one specific area? if so she may be using the post to help "mark" this as her territory. This is common behavior you will see in wild animals including bears and wildcats.
Don’t let all these imbeciles make you feel bad because you declawed your cat. She scratches because it’s a cats way of stretching. My cat does it too. She uses her post, and also does my shoes when I’m getting ready for work and coming home. I love it. She sends me off and greets me when I come home.
Because scratching is as natural to cats as eating and breathing. It exercises muscles and marks scent. Unfortunately, cats who have had their toes partially amputated (declawed is the euphemism) don’t benefit from scratching to exercise their muscles because they can’t get a grip on the scratching post. They can still mark their scent through their pawpads.
I’m sorry people are so rude they don’t even know if you got your cat from a shelter all ready decawed it’s just instant
