Why does my cat put toys in his water dish?
I have a Turkish Angora named Louie. He has a bunch of toys and puts most of them in his water dish. When I take them out he puts them back in. Why does he do this?

Many cats are fascinated by water. I believe it’s the reflections in the water that attract them – my own cat’s preferred entertainment is to watch water poured over tiles. If you then add a toy to this entertaining environment it just boosts the fun potential. Not to mention that previously static toys now become animated toys bobbing around in the water – great cat fun.
There are other explanations to do with a cat’s instinctive behaviour. This comes from http://www.catchannel.com/experts/arnold_plotnick/article_cat_question_13.aspx
"Has your cat ever dropped his favorite catnip mouse or rubber fetching ball in his water bowl? … It just might be that your cat is trying to find a "safe" place for his favorite things. It often happens that the toy that ends up in the water or food bowl is often a toy that has recently been enjoyed by your cat, or even by your cat with you. In the wild, cats often take their prey back to their "nest" area, and hide it from predators. Indoor cats don’t really have a "nest" per se, so they often consider their food and water dishes as the "safest" areas within their "territory". "
mine does the same thing as well as just diping her paws into the water toy or no toy the only thing i can think of is it needs bath toys
or it just likes the floating ness
my cat does that often too. She is half siamese and idk know what else. I’m srry but I have no idea why this happens. My cat however is 13, maybe it’s an age thing?
It could be because it wants to draw attention to you to clean the water or get a new bowl. Cats are very greedy about their bowls and litter boxes. My cat puts its paw in the water also, even when i get her new bowls she does it. Some cats enjoy the feeling of getting wet(besides their tongues) and just like to splash around. or their fur might be dirty so that’s how they want to clean themselves. Check these things and if it is not it probably just wants to have fun.
Good luck!
Clearly the toys need a bath!
haha
Or he just likes the feeling of the wet furry mouse in his mouth, rather than a dry, boring one.
Either way, it’s cute!
