Some of our cats do that once in a while. I believe they are acting like they are drowning their prey. I have heard of that before.
my cat does that to!!! sometimes he plays fetch with a piece of candy and takes the candy and drops it in the water. i have 3 other cats and none of them do that, but this one does. i have no idea why they do it, but im glad there is someone elses cat that does the same and hes not crazy
maybe hes just makin his food easier to chew my cat puts random little objects in boxes so they cant get away
he probably need solf food cuz he’s being smart and trying to do it him self. get him sum solf food and see how he reacts to it.
Mary L . my mother ha a cat when she was younge and it did the same thing LOL
It’s actually normal behavior. He’s bored and the texture of the toys change when wet.
We have one that steals hair ties and leaves them floating in the water dish…or he buries them in his food dish!
Could be worse. I had a friend whose cat dunked his mini-tennis balls into the toilet! Then, he’d fish them out and drop them on my friend’s head at 2 am! My friend flushed a ball due to this behavior in front of the cat, and the cat quit and went back to dunking in the water dish LOL!
Our male kitty steals stuff and puts it in his water bowl. He is particulary fond of necklaces and Jolly Ranchers, but we have also found other jewelry, hair ties, the little plastic spiders my daughter got for halloween, and my lingerie.
Oddly, our female refuses to drink directly from the water bowl, and instead dunks her paw and licks it.
