Why does my cat keep licking it's butt every 5 seconds or so and dragging it on the floor?
My cat is acting really strange. It’s licking it’s butt eevry 5 seconds or so. Also, he is dragging his butt on floor….. Does anyone know why he would do this and is it serious?
Also, does it make a difference if they are one year old (yesterday), male, nd fixed? and thanks for all the answers so far!
And, he has been washing his butt so much he must have the cleanest butt around so i’m not really sure how it can be really dirty…well maybe he can’t clean it…..that well…sorry to be gross but…
**UPDATE**
Me n my mum checked out his rear end. He had something there that looked like a piece of old poo a bit away from his are he poops out of. It wasn’t ON the area….we cut it off cuz we thought maybe that was the problem. DO you think he will be ok now?

He has worms. You can sometimes see the worms. Take him to the vet or try liquid wormer. Keep repeating the dose.
YOu need to take the cat to the vet. His anal glands are impacted.
worms.
get a liquid wormer. You have to repeat the dose after 10 days.
do it today!
could be worms.
i must have something wrong with its an al glands, you will have to see a vet to get it sorted
It could be his glands or he might have worms. Get him to a vet in any case.
THAT’S ONE CRAAAZYYY CAT!!!!!!
The same thing happened to my cat. She had an infected gland on her butt. The infection also gave her a very high fever. Not terribly serious, but it needs to be lanced by the vet.
take it to the vet it might have worms
Sounds to me like the cat is in heat.
WORMS!!! That is what my cat and dogs were both doing and they had worms. Take it to the vet, or go to Walmart or something and pick up some wormer. Either will work.
he may have poop stuck onhis butt
You ought to take the cat to the vet, because he probably has worms
Sounds like your cat has worms.
Well, obviously his butt itches. My dog does that sometimes on the grass. Sometimes it helps if your clean their butthole (sorry!).
Yeah, it definitely sounds like its anal glands are impacted. It occasionally happens to my dog. Apparently the glands fill with a liquid (it stinks really bad- almost like a skunk). Normally when they go to the bathroom it will release whatever is in there, but sometimes they get blocked up or something. So that is what your cat is doing is trying to work it out itself by rubbing and stuff.
You may need to take it to the vet. When it happens to my dog it ususally last for a just a couple of days and then he seems to work it out on his own- but he has been to the vet before for this.
Yes,e xactly as the other people just said! you must buy a medicine for roundworms, i had to do that lately with my cats, look for it at you vet, soon!
All sorts of nastiness for your kitty! Take it to the vet, NOW! The longer you wait the worse it will get for your kitty and the more expensive/time consuming it will be for you.
It could be his anal glands. Your vet should be able to help.
