Attention and love.
Oddly enough cats kinda do this payment system. In the cats eyes, here you are, a fellow being, giving them shelter, food, love, toys, etc, etc. So in return, theyre gonna go "hunt" something for you (often times a favorite toy), and bring it to you. Notice when she does it that she looks at you all proud? Yeah xD
My kitten has been doing it alot lately. We had a hurricane recently and she was scared alot. So I conforted her. Now.. 4-5 times a day shell find this one ratty tatty toy mouse (she loves it, and its like as big as her head), bites it, and walks around the house crying her eyes out til she finds me. When she does, she runs up, and plops it at my feet, purring. She wont leave til I pay attention to her and praise her for such nice work.
You should praise them when they do this, while you might think youre telling them to keep it up, youre actually telling them "Thank you! I love it!" and they feel theyve done a good job.
Cause your her favorite and she killed them just for you and is bringing them as an offering, i used to tell my cat good job pet him and just let the toy lie where it was. She is just showing off for you and letting you know she adores you! Feel special, and be glad she doesn’t live outdoors or they might be dead animals on your bed!
Wow this is really weird because my calico does the same thing and I have never had a cat that does that. She cries real loud with her toys in her mouth at night and drops them in my room and does this several times. Personally I think it a maternal instinct thing because that is what they would naturally do with their kittens. Kittens are really the only thing they would really carry and transport in their mouth. I’m not sure if my cat ever had kittens before but I doubt it because I got her at a year old and she was spayed. I think because she didn’t have kittens she has this instinct that she never got to use so at night she believes her toys are kittens. I don’t know for sure but this is just what I believe. For the longest time I wondered too and then it was the only thing I could think of. Maybe you will find a better answer. I just thought I would share my idea with you.
Also she doesn’t do this during the day… she is normally very quiet so it was weird. It could also just be a gift but I had cats bring me gifts before (some dead animals) but never have I had a cat that has cried like mine does with them in her mouth in the middle of the night… that is what got me thinking about it.
I am a cat behavior at SPCA, and Cats plays at night and early the morning. She wants you to play with her. The best thing to do, is get her a mate.
What is the best for you to do? Play with your cat at night before going to bed, and if she is still restless, give her some treats, this way it will make them sleepy and go to bed.
She wants to bring them to you so you will play with her. Cats are nocturnal and love to be active during the night. So it can seem kinda inconvenient for her to be getting ready to play just as you are ready to go to sleep. Maybe get her something she can play with on her own, like a cat tree with string dangling down, or some small balls that she can play with that wont make noise.
she wants you to know that she has been busy doing her job. she has hunted down the prey and brought it to you. if you had mice in your house, she would bring you what she caught. if she were allowed outside and got good at it she would bring you birds.
Hey at least she’s bringing you her toys. My cat used to bring roaches and crickets onto my bed…=/
She is bringing you her ‘catch’. My cat does the same thing….drops it right at the side of the bed. Then she stares at me…if I call her onto the bed, she will jump up and cuddle. You should feel honored that she has brought you this toy….(lol, like when my male cat brings me dead birds and mice…I don’t feel too honored, but I try to hide my disgust)!!! I always tell him what a great job he did, then yell to my husband to get it out of his mouth!!!!
she killed her toy very hard for you !! accept the gift and thank her greatly for it. =]
I have two indoor cats – one is deaf so vet recomended he be an indoor cat. His brother was therefore an indoor cat by default since i didn’t want to split them during the day.
I know they sleep most of the day when I am out, so come night time, this becomes their play time.
You should count yourself lucky the toys are deposited on the floor in your house – my two feel free to bring them right up onto the bed, and pester me until I play with them. I have been fully asleep, only to be woken with a paw on the face – to then find a small plastic bottle top beside my head…I have cats who think they are dogs and love nothing more than a game of ‘fetch’ at night time!
Our latest ‘toy’ is a straw from McDonalds…we’ve had that for a week and it becomes even more fun to play with this at 2am.
Since cats appear to sleep for 3/4 of that day, and would much rather be awake when you are home, chances are their play time will coincide with your chill out time. So, either try and tire them out before your bed time, or take it as a big compliment that your little guy wants to play with you at all!
