Why does my cat act weird when I'm in the shower?
I have 4 cats and one of them acts very strangely whenever I get in the shower. She will sit outside the shower, outside the bathroom door, or sometimes even perch on the side of the shower yowling away. When I get out she licks and nibbles on my feet and legs and sometimes she’ll hop in the tub and lick the water out of there. She has two water bowls (actually one is a fountain) that she drinks out of regularly. Any clue why she displays these odd beavhiors?

My cat does the same. It will mew away when I am in the shower, and drink from there whenever it can. My other cat drinks form flower pots, and my dog thinks that water pools on the road-side are MUCH tastier than the water he gets at home.
I think this has to do with opportunity and affection. Also, the water that drips off you is warmer, and probably contains a bit more salt (from your body).
So, you question got me triggered, and I did a small search in the internet. This turned up the following, which might also be helpful.
Reports of cats drinking from the bottom of the shower, from the sink and other unlikely places are common. Some cats can be fussy about water; they seem to like it as fresh as possible, preferably still moving. You may be able to stop some of this behavior by changing the cat’s water every day and moving it some distance away from the food dish. In general this habit will not hurt your cat, however unpleasant it may look to you. Toilet water drinking *should* be discouraged, but this is easily done by leaving the lid down.

Lots of cat info on that page anyway.
And many other reports of cats drinking from the shower, so it must be something common…
u should take her to the vet cause if she needs that much water somethings wrong
theres nothing wrong with your cat. it just misses you and want to help you dry off after your shower. my one cat does that too. its really cute.
I would say maybe she’s intrigued by the running water but you said she has a fountain.
Perhaps it’s the soaps you use, either hair or body that has a smell that really attracts her, try opening them and putting them in front of her and see if one smell attracts her. Maybe that could help you find out what it is that gets her.
What a coincidence. My 4 year old black male cat sits on the edge of the shower stall in between the shower liner and shower curtain while I am in the shower. Then, when I get out of the shower he goes in the stall and either sits or licks the water and watches the drips. I am not worried about it, this is just part of who he is and I think it is so cute. He just loves his Mama and water.
Your cat may be trying to protect you against the "evil" water monster, since cats don’t like to be bathed themselves. My cat does the same thing and runs away when I poke my head out, since cats obviously don’t like water. She may also miss you or want to take a bath too.
It is just one of the many things that some cats do for which we will never learn the reason.
I know of a cat who jumps in the shower with his "mom" and tries to get her to get out of the shower. She has to make sure the bathroom door was closed before taking a shower
One of my cats used to get in the shower with me. Cats are just weird sometimes.
Toby just freaks out when she takes a shower and jumps in with her sometimes. Some of my cats hang on the edge of the tub and peek around the shower curtain. Cats are just quirky, that’s part of the joy of having them. No two are the same.
Well the obvious answer is that your cat is insane. Besides that it may be that She’s not getting enough salt in her food, so she tries to get it from other sources, it also maybe that some cats like the smeel of sweat and such, I’m not sure why but some breeds of cats are drawn to the smell of Human Sweat.
i have 2 cats but only 1 of them does it i think its just because they miss you or something or they like the smell of you when you get out
lol.
Both of my cats do this only when I shower not when my Husband or kids do. I am their Mom and they think that because they do not like the shower that It is a bad experence for me too. I guess that they don’t care if the shower "eats" my Husband or kids. I have even had them go as far as to try and rescue me because I had a cold and put a shower steam thing in the shower. This sounds funny now but it sure didn’t when I was nude and trying to comfort a wet cat (with the only clean and dry towel in the house I might add) and the dry cat that thought I was killing his sister and sneezing my head off. My Husband was laughing his A## off. Cats are nuts but I love them.
