Why do people get cats and then all they can talk about is the cat is scratching himself or other things?
Don’t they realize that cats have claws before they get one? And get a scratching post? Seems 90% of cat ?’s on here are about cats claws. Noone thinks about this when they see a cute little kitten then get it on a whim & afterwards mutilate their feet!!

Totally agree with you. There seem to be a lot of people who want a cat but are not willing to accept that scratching is perfectly natural behaviour for a cat. The domestication of cats simply means that they are willing to live in our homes with us, it does not mean that all their natural predatory instincts have been forgotten, but some people fail to understand that.
When people say they had their cat declawed because it was impossible to train, I’ve often wondered why they didn’t hire the services of a professional animal behaviourist to help them, instead of spending money having the poor cat declawed.
In places like the UK, most of Europe, Australia and New Zealand, declawing is illegal because it is classed as animal cruelty. The law actually refers to it as "mutilation". If literally millions of cat owners around the world have trained their cats to use scratch posts, I’m at a loss to understand why some owners don’t seem to be able to do this. Even worse, being declawed is no guarantee that the owner will keep the cat for the rest of it’s life. Many are surrendered for various reasons to animal shelters – just check the adoption pages to see how many are looking for new homes.
On a positive note, I have seen more questions recently from first time cat owners wanting to educate themselves on all aspects of cat care, so there are responsible and caring owners out there too.
dumb??
I agree…they are the exact reason there are so many strays out there and cats in shelters – - – people see a cute little kitten, and they want them to stay that way. When the kitten starts acting like a cat is when they decide to declaw them or get rid of them, and neither option is a nice one.
Actually i dont even talk about that.lol.I mean you said people wich pretty much refers to everyone.I actually talk about my cat personality most of the time so,to answer your question, i would say all people dont talk about that.bye.I actually just see one question about claws ,that are below ur question. But i see what you are trying to say.The question i hate the most is how do get rid of fleas on my cat.like Duh! Flea medication.
I totally agree w/ you. Another dumb question that is asked a lot is what to name the kitten. Have you ever noticed that. Some people dont deserve pets. But, there are a few of us out there that treat our pets as family and give them all the love and attention they deserve.
That’s why people get rid of their cats because they are going around and scratching on the furniture and people and other things and people try the scratching posts and they don’t work because the cat won’t use it. Then they try to use softpaws and then the cat won’t use them and then people get rid of the cats and People think that people get rid of cats that got declawed and they can’t do anything with their claws because they don’t have any. People don’t get rid of their cats that are declawed they get rid of the cats that have their claws because those are the cat that are doing the damage.
first of all, a lot of people get cats or dogs because one of their children wants the pet and parents dont know how to say no to their kids. and because people don’t ask questions about things that their cat is doing good, duh!! We ask questions to get answers to things that are usually problems. If i said, "Why do my cats sleep all day, or Why does my cat look so good, or why do my cats always pee in their litterbox or scratch their scratching post, then where is the problem."
