I guess to each their own… Personally, I have worked in Emergency Vet Hospitals for over 25yrs and have seen some pretty bizarre things. But I can honestly say that to the best of my recollection – none have involved catnip.

My cats love it but I only use it in moderation because I did read that you can overstimulate some cats if you give too much at a time for too long of a period…

its because cat nip is the same as marijuana but for cats

just liek some people are anti-drug, alcohol, and tobacco, they think that its wrong to alter a cat’s state of mind. catnip makes a cat silly like they just smoked weed or something, i dont know how exactly it compares. these people that are against it are just against mind or body altering substances altogether and mayeb they think its cruel to get your cat "high".
i think its stupid. let your cat have fun just like most people will

I have a patch of it growing in my garden and my two cats love it! They are 12 and 13 and in perfect health so it doesn’t seem to have any bad side effects (other than they become psycho-cats for a few minutes). But I guess that there may be a few felines out there that can’t digest it properly.

Some people will yell at you if you don’t conform to their idiotic rigid standards.

Cats love catnip. I really see no problem with it in small amounts or if its put in a toy. However, I have known people who had cats go completely mad (like disoriented and crazy nonfunctioning mad) when the cats got ahold of a large amount of it at a time. My aunt had picked a lot (about two bread bags full) to put inside toys she makes for her seven cats and put it out of reach of the cats on top of the fridge. One of her cats somehow got on top of fridge and ate an entire bread bag full of catnip and when they woke up the next morning, the cat was flipping out on top of the fridge and died two days later. so I’m guessing that the people against it are either against giving their cat treats or a ‘euphoric’ experience, or have had something like that happen to them. So as long as they dont ingestion a ton at once, its fine. Like everything, moderation is the key.
