Think about the way a cats claws are shaped: they are perfectly adapted to going up , but to come down, they need to do it backwards to keep a grip, & they sometimes get so frightened that they don’t know how..
They will eventually.
Either they’ll come down on their own
someone will have to help them down
They’ll die and fall down
The tree will fall down
They’ll turn into a fossil and someone will eventually go into the tree to get them.
There are many more possibilities, so I must say you haven’t disproved this law yet.
Mostly it is lack of experience. I had two small little cats (about 3 months old) who were stuck in an apple tree in my garden, I tried to have them jump into my arms, but nothing happened, then my third cat came (a bit black male), he just looked at me as to say – you won’t certainly not help them THAT WAY ! then he climbed on the tree, said Mrrr to the kitten and showed them the way down by putting his moustache against the places on the tree where they should go down. They obediently followed the path and were down, since then their favourite game is to climb on this apple tree and come down by themselves.
It`ll come down on it`s own eventually. Hunger will make it come down. If there are a lot of people around trying to coax it, it might make thinks worse as the animal will get anxiety. It`ll probably come down in the night time when there are less people around. Try leaving some food at the base of the tree and let everyone back off. If it`s hungry enough, it`ll come down.
Their claws are constructed for climbing up. When they attempt to climb down headfirst (and normally this is what they will try to do first), it’s impossible for them because the claws are curved the wrong way. Eventually, a cat will figure out how to go down the correct way – shimmying down backward so that the claws will cling to the bark of the tree.
