Actually or cats used to get mad at us if we were gone for a few weeks. I find leaving the TV on makes them believe someone is around especially if you put it on a 24 hour cable news show. It's about 20 bucks and has a bunch of chapters with birds, grasshoppers, fish, etc.. One of my cats does seem particularly fascinated with the hampster portion of the DVD. Even if they don't watch it (my friends insist that cats don't watch TV) the background nature noises may be of interest to the cat. Also, I got this bird on a string that hangs from the doorway frame. The cats bat at it for hours. It has a "safety" break-away feature so that the cat does not hurt itself. She also likes a ball of foil rolled up into a ball. If you do this, do it real tight, so it doesn't come loose in the kittys mouth. The cardboard from an empty toilet paper is fun to bat around. My kitty loves playing with her colar. She hates wearing it, so she carries it around the house. I have a fuzzy pink slipper she bats around. They like the top of those zip lock bags, the thick ones. Of course, always be sure that any toys you leave are safe. I have bought soooo many at the pet store. She seems to like the silly home made ones better. The foil I think is the biggest hit. She likes to have me throw them, she chases them and brings them back for me to throw again. At the end of the week there about 20 of them under the couch!!!!
