I would just do it slowly and try your best to be gentle, or else you will scare the cat worse. Hold and pet them for a little while, then quickly (not too fast though) put the cat in the carrier. It also helps to put the carrier vertically so your cat can’t run out of it before you can close the door.
You might also want to get a bigger carrier for your cat, that way the cat doesn’t feel claustrophobic. It might also be easier to lure your cat into a bigger carrier. You can get a toy or something to jiggle through the holes of the carrier, like a feather toy, that the cat will want to get at. Then you can lure them in and shut it behind them.
Good Luck
give it some drugs..
You could try enticing her into the carrier with a treat or some canned cat food. If she loves tuna (I haven’t met a cat that doesn’t), you could try putting a can of that inside.
If she has a favorite toy, you could try putting that in there to lure her in.
discreetly place a row of treats.. and sit calmly next to it until he is in..
we were worried about this too, so what i did was leave the carrier out all of the time, sometimes tossing in a toy or 2 for her to play with,,,now she doesnt mind it…
Sounds like you might want to wrap kitty in a towel and load her in.
cover her in a towel and wrap up her head so she can’t see and shove her in it
Set the carrier on it’s end and put the cat in headfirst.
treats? or find a way to trick her
our cat was like that- we finally got a cat carrier that you load them in from the top, so now I just pick her up and drop her in and hope that I can get it zipped before she knows what happened!!
try putting canned cat food in there about an hour before. that will give her plenty of time to find it and start eating. and she will cool down before you two start your trip. also, put toys and other stuff in there so she will eventually like the pet carrier.
You need two people. One above the upright carrier and one that lowers the cat towards it. One to take the feet and put them into the carrier and then the other to lower it at the same time. When they make themselves big they are already inside. Works like a treat…somethimes.
I just set it up so my cat has nowhere to go BUT into the carrier, she eventually gives in.
I can relate to you because Thomasina is normally completely chill, but when she sees the carrier come out she turns into a wild animal =P
Pick up your cat and push him or her in head first. Don’t worry your cat, can turn around later, to have his or her face, facing the front of the cage. Don’t be afraid to be a little rough with your stubborn cat. Encourage your cat to enjoy his or her ride in the pet carrier by placing a hanging toy on the ceiling, ball-type toy on the floor (such as a small yarn ball, and a blanket on the floor. Good luck with your traveling, move, or vet visit!
Scruff her, tilt the carrier up on it’s end and lower her in, close the door quickly! It looks mean, but really it’s the safest and least stressful.
What i suggest maybe is to put some of favorite stuff in her/his cage, for example food, toys, etc. if that does not work maybe if she falls a sleep maybe you can pick her up slowly and put her in there before she wakes up. I hope this works for ya!
sometimes a bribe works. If you like put treats inside of it or something. but you gotta be quick once there in cause they wont do it more then once.
i had a cat that would NEVER go in. i always like to line the bottom with a blanket so there more comfy so I wrapped him in the blanket like a baby so he can’t claw me and put him in closing the door really quick. the blanket would of course come off once i let go so he could sit on it. And with this aproach i once again would put treats inside. that way it made him a little more comfy once in there.
WITH A GUN. .357 MAG WILL DO THE TRICK
Open up the carrier and leave it open the night before you make your trip with your pet , Your cat will eventually go inside it , and will probably stay in it .
I hold my cat by the scruff of his neck and put him in feet first, quickly closing the door.
You have to hold cats tight because they can almost literally slide out of their skins.
The treat thing is ridiculous. You have to put the cat inside the carrier. You cannot "entice" your cat to go into it in record time.
If your kitty likes treats, train her to go into the carrier on her own. I trained my cats by shaking the treat box and tossing a few pieces into the carriers. If your kitty is spooky because of previous experiences, leave the carrier out and put half what you feed her in the carrier and the other half where you usually feed her. If there is room near where you normally feed her, put the carrier there. Before I learned to train them, I found the easiest way to load an uncooperative cat was to put it in tail first. Even then, I would give them a treat for going into the carrier. Good luck
