What homemade toys can I make for my cat?
Cats find the weirdest things interesting, mine like cardboard boxes, and find the pricey store bought toys to be uninteresting. I was wondering, what other home made toys I can make for my cat? I have given him boxes, toilet paper rolls, bunched up newspaper… he loves those thing. Any other ideas?

My cats favorite is the ring that comes off the top of milk jugs.
my Kittybelle plays with wadded paperballs. she swats them around and chases all over the house. she enjoyed those rubber superbounce balls also. lets see, also, scotch tape on her tail. bu then again she swats at the lampshade.
~peace~
my cat loves to bat & chase plain old pingpong balls accross the floors, he can keep busy for hours by his own self chasing those pesky noisy little white balls, especially when I’m not home.
He also loves to play with mens shoe laces. One day my bf came home from work and was undoing his work boots, my cat a first sat and watched, and in a second started pawing as his loose laces. My bf out of curiousity of his own removed one of the laces from his boots and began to play with my cat for an hour, we couldn’t help but laugh the whole time.
good luck
cheers !!!
Tin foil balls.
hair scrunchies
a socked tied with catnip in it
I’d always tape up a furry mouse toy inside of a box, then cut a few paw-sized holes in the box. My cat could see the mouse inside the box and loved trying to get it out. Eventually he’d tear the box open and get the mouse. This was one of his favorite toys ^_^
1. a shoelace–If you don’t have time to tease him with it yourself, hang it or drape it from some cat safe object.
2. a pencil–extend it off of a step or desk, or place it under a half open door so he can attack both sides.
3. slick advertising inserts–place them on the floor so when he jumps on them he’ll slide on them.
4. light–let him chase the light reflected of a hand mirror or laser pointer.
Our cat and kitten absolutely love plastic drinking straws. You can bend them into circles and flick them across the room, put them just under furniture or rugs so they can dig for them, or tie a bunch together to make a chew toy. You can also take cardboard boxes, cut holes in them, and put the toys inside so they can try to get them out. One inexpensive storebought toy that our babies love is catnip bubbles.
string and feather
I made a scratching post and hung ribbon and tulle off the top – mine loves that. Little bows made from ribbon and string do well, straws tied in funny ways, pompoms glued together, pipe cleaners bent weird, my cat really likes those plastic practice golf balls with bits of folded paper shoved in it as well
They LOVE crinkled up tin foil balls! They will chase it all over the house. Just make sure it is big enough that they cannot swallow it!
toilet roll
my cousin’s cat loves socks so they got an old one and tied a knot in the middle…the cat loved playing with it.
plastic seal from milk jug
Large grocery store paper bags. Soda bottle caps. Kitty Grass (from the pet store). Hang tags from new clothing. Almost anything can work to entertain a cat. Have Fun!
yarn always works. hanging bells, tassels, and other things like that.
PUT A LITTLE BIT OF CAT NIP INSIDE AN EMPTY CONTAINER OF SOUR CREAM AND CRAZY GLUE IT SHUT WAIT FOR IT TO DRY COMPLETELY THAN GIVE IT TO HIM IT WILL DRIVE HIM CRAZY!!! YOU CAN ALSO ADD A LITTLE BALL TO THE INSIDE BUT THE NOISE WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY
it won’t look that pretty but they love it. Just take a piece of paper (not large)fold it a lot of times and wind a string in the middle. Pull it (so to make a noise), they think it’s a mouse and try to catch it.
I had a cat once and she loved to play "soccer" with scrunched up aluminum foil. Sometimes I put in a bell in them and then scrunch it up in a ball. You could also try making a "catch the mouse" toy. I stuff a baby-size sock with cotton, seal the ends and attach a rubberised string to the ends. Then tie the rubberised string to a stick. The stuffed sock should be able to bounce up and down. Attach some bells and colored ribbons to the sock or "mouse", and start playing "catch the mouse" with your cat.
