i want to make a cat platform tree for a xmas prezzie for my cat! =)
i don’t noe how im going to make it but i think that plush fur is a good idea for the carpet. then i can use kitchen roll tubes and wrapping paper tubes for the pole things.

Great idea, instead of cardboard tubes, saw a tree branch into 3 sections, these 3 legs will support the weight of your cat better and he’ll be able to scratch the bark to his heart’s content.
Use flat sheets of wood covered with carpet squares cut to size for the base (great for scratching), and one for the top platform, nice and heavy to make it stable, use a stapler to fix the carpet down, nail through the sheets into the branch legs.
Then take an old pillow, cut it to the size of the top platform and wrap your plush fabric over the top and round underneath the platform and staple it in place. This upholstered top will make a popular bed for him.
I would glue some protective floor pads under the base or it might scratch your floor, and give the tree branches a good brush before you bring them inside to get the insects off. Sprinkle some catnip on the finished item.
Cheap as chips and he’ll love it.
to be honest , i think its a great thing, for your cat. It will enjoy investigating its new toy. You could maybe use some tacs for the carpet or maybe, a sticky sellotape based tac.
Inestead of making it you could buy it as many stores sell , great climbing platforms, try out the website to see if you like them. But otherwise you could just stay with the idea of making it .

Card board roll tubes is not a good idea they will not hold the weight of a cat. You will have to find a piece of lumber a piece of 4X4 or something like that and about 4 feet tall. Then attach it to another piece of plywood that is about 3/4 inch to one inch thick. You need a sturdy base so it is not pulled over. You attach the carpet with a staple gun and very long staples or nail it to the base and then to post. It is not easy unless you are use to using this equipment. Plush fur I have never used I don’t know how long it will hold up. I use carpet or sisal rope.
Here is a place you can order one cheaply
