what can i do with my naughty cat – real problem?
I have 2 cats, aged 4 and 3. The older one is a model cat, perfect, The younger one is a nightmare. Ever since I have had him I have been wiating in hope that he changes but no and now I have a baby son its just making my life a constatn misery.
What can I do? Cat in question is so naughty, has destoyed my house, every room has wall paper hanging off, he jumps up places he knows he is not allowed and knocks things over, this is a seriocu cncern now I have my baby. Already he has almost hit my son on the head when he has knpcke things over, so I now I have to chut him out the front room almost all day, which I odnt want to do.
Im just at the end of my tether and am thinking I cant go on with this animal. He destroys everything like today I went to the supermarket, and put my shopping in the house then while I was getting my son out of his coat etc the cat went into the shopping bacg and ripped into a bag of moist facial wipes therefore destroying the whole bag. This is commong ie he is banned from the kitchen also as he ruins all my food, and eats things like plastic bags and rips the bin liners open. I cant even have a bin in my bed room.
He is banned from the bathroom as thats where I keep all my baby things, which he would rip open, but instead he rips up the carpet outside and I have got stuck in there, Im just terrified of what this cat will do next and really cant cope anymore.
Its really upsetting for me and means I shout a lot which is upsetting for my baby boy,
we live on a main road so i cant let them out as I feel they would not last long at all.
I just dont know what to do anymore, the though of re-homing my cat breaks my heart but what else can I do?
There are loads of cat toys, towers and scratch posts in the house and lots of windows for them to look out of.

Does the good cat play with the bad cat? If not, the bad cat probably has a lot of energy he needs to get out and he does it by playing with everything else. You could do 2 things:
1. Have more enrichment time with this cat. Play with him more, buy him some catnip toys to entertain him with.
2. Although a lot of people will tell you not to do this it might be your only other choice. If you live in a house in a quiet residential neighborhood, you might want to consider letting your cat go outdoors. Of course, you run the risk of him getting fleas, but I know someone who did this with a very active cat and the cat really calmed down a lot.
I think you are answering your own question. Re-home the cat.
Some cats are beyond repair, but a spray bottle filled with water does wonders. Anytime you catch the cat doing something bad spray him. Cats aren’t stupid, so hopefully he’ll catch on.
Ask the vet maybe they can give you a medicine that would stop this. Your cat could possibly be suffering from anxiety, anxiety does lead to behavor problems. No one is going to put up with a cat doing this to there home. If its not fixed they will just put in down.
Good Luck!
