What are some toys for an indoor 2 year old cat?

My kitty used to play with toys when she was younger; but now that she’s older she’s losing interest. She seems pretty bored and we can’t adopt another cat right now. I’m at school all day and my grandmother doesn’t have to energy to play with an energetic cat. What are some toys that I could give her that DON’T INVOLVE TREATS? (She’s getting pretty chubby and doesn’t need any more treats)

A laser pointer is something cats LOVE to chase and doesn’t involve a lot of effort on your part (or your grandmother’s). The problem is that most cats at that age won’t play with a toy on their own. Kittens will because they have so much energy and are so curious, but older cats need someone to play with, someone to be moving the toy and giving them a reason to chase it. A laser pointer gives them something that, for some reason, cats can’t resist, and you don’t have to get up or move around to make the laser move around the room. Good luck!

My cats love these toys.
A cat fishing pole for u to play w/her (or a shoestring)
cheap balls w/bells in them from Wal-Mart (~$1 for like 6)
catnip toys XD. She’ll love these.
Paper bags & cardboard boxes
Socks (my cat loves to play w/my bf’s dirty socks. LOL!)
Ne thing w/real feathers on it. Once again, Wal-Mart has some balls w/feathers on the end. They cost ~$3.50 for 3. Once she destroys the feathers, they detatch, so it’s just a ball.
I’ve never seen a cat not take to one of the small toy mice. They are about 1 1/2 inches long.

You should be able to get these mice locally. Try pet stores, even grocery stores. Walmart has had them also.

Most cats as they grow up prefer interactive play that involves another person or cat. They might bat around a toy mouse or ball for a few minutes when they’re feeling frisky, but to hold their attention for long, the play needs to be more interactive and interesting.
Get your kitty a feather wand… there are plenty of them available at most pet stores… You don’t really need much effort at all to play with this sort of toy… you can just sit there and wiggle it around in front of them and they have a blast… I haven’t met a cat yet that won’t play with a feather wand toy.
You should also get your kitty a laser pointer. In my opinion, the laser pointer is one of the most ideal cat toys. There is really almost no effort at all involved on your (or your grandmother’s) part. You just sit there and point the little red dot around the room, and the cat goes crazy chasing it. I like to get my cats going really fast, then run them down the hallway. Then when the dot gets to the front door, I will move it up the door, just to watch the cat take a flying leap straight up trying to get it… it’s hilarious!! You can also find a laser pointer at the pet store.
If you don’t want to spend money, you can usually find stuff around your house for the cat to play with…. cats love pieces of paper wadded up into a ball. Alot of cats also like those plastic rings that come off a milk jug when you first open it up. Sometimes I leave a paper grocery sack or small box laying around on the floor for a few days for the cats to play in, and i just leave it till they beat it up real bad or get bored of it. Just get creative and look around your house for objects you think the cat will play with… you’d be surprised… when allowed to, cats will often play with the most odd, random little thing laying around the house that you wouldn’t consider to be any sort of cat toy… just make sure there’s no small pieces they can break off and swallow.

a cat nip filled toymouse on elastic hung from the under side of a table or somthing like that
Cat nip is the best.. lol… my two cats love those tiny mice they sell at the pet store for like 50 cents each make sure the mice are small and look real.
My cat’s like that, but she’s about ten. She liked cat-nip when she was around 2. Just get the stuffed toys from a pet store that are made for you to put cat-nip into. It’ll get your cat in a good mood, and he or she will bat it around. If all else fails, get her a nice long string. My cat can’t resist those babies.
My cat loves to play in a paper bag. A plain paper grocery bag.
She also loves this little clear plastic ball with a bell inside it.
And any kind of hanging string, cord, anything like that.
