what are some good homemade cat toys to make?
my cats dont like playing with store bought toys and i want to make them some new wons or even if you know of something in your house that they would like to play with just tell me. They already play with flashlights, lazers, tin foil balls, polly pocket rubber clothes, pony tails and fuzzy barbie clothes. also they are not aloud to have cat nip. thanks
also as i forgot, they do not have front claws so it cant be like a scratching post or anything. and the reason they cant have catnip is because my cat get to hiper and pee all over the house. they also love playing with medium sized bouncy balls if that helps anyone with the answers. thanks

Catnip in moderation is fine, but then again you have already got cats that had to undergo someone else deciding which body parts they need so I don’t find it surprising you think of a scratching post as a toy and not as a training aid, which is what is actually is, Scratching posts are for training, not playing.

Breed some mice.
Why can’t your cats have catnip? It won’t hurt them.
Plastic rings from milk jugs.
An old sock with catnip tied up in it.
A paper ball- a wadded up piece of paper.
Feathers found outside.
Wine corks.
cats LOVE the cardboard tube that is left after you finish your toilet paper roll….
also the plastic strip that comes off the milk container after you open it… and try balling up aluminum foil!! they LOVE that.. the sound is fun as well as it makes for great batting practice..
and the little plastic egg tubes you get from slot machines, ans around easter… and of course feathers. hope your kitty has fun !
I’ve found that expensive cat toys are a waste of money, as mine have always preferred to play with things they found lying around the home. Our female cat loves to play fetch with twisty cable ties shaped into a circle. Ping pong balls, paper scrunched into a ball, empty cotton reels or bottle corks are cheap and fun to play with.
All cats enjoy jumping in and out of cardboard boxes, and you can add a few layers of shredded newspaper in the bottom and hide a few cat treats or lightweight toys inside. Alternatively cut holes in the side of the box large enough for them to climb through, and attach lightweight toys on a piece of string just above the hole, so that they can grab for them. Sheets of corrugated cardboard also make excellent scratchers too.
You can make a fishing rod toy by tying a light weight toy on the end of a piece of string and then attaching the other end to a short bamboo pole. Tie a long piece of string to your belt so it trails behind you everywhere you go, so they can pounce on it. (This comes in handy when you have to get on with housework, but your cats want to play).
One shop bought toy which I can highly recommend are pop-up play cubes. They are the cheapest cat toy I have ever bought and they provide my two cats with hours of fun. I’ve also given them as gifts to cat owning friends and they’ve proved popular with cats of all ages.

My cat LOVES a plain old large paper bag. You give him one of those and he will be entertained for hours.
