I never understood what catnip did on cats, I read that it makes them hyper. So what affect does catnip have on cats, and what forms does catnip come in?

Felines who like catnip will generally roll around, rub their faces in it, salivate, jump, run around, and purr for about 10 to 15 minutes. Different cats have different reactions, but these are usually the signs that show your cat is enjoying the herb.
Afterwards, your cat will calm down and most likely feel like napping.
The effects on your feline friend may vary due to the quality and potency of the leaves. This will differ based on where and how the plant was grown.
If your adult cat does not respond, you may want to try another toy or source of herb to see how your cat likes it. Also, older leaves or an older toy will not be as potent and may not interest your kitty.
Regardless of whether you give your cat a pinch or two of the dried leaves or give your feline friend a toy to play with, the pleasurable effects will be the same.
it makes them high. mine always mellowed out.
it comes in dry and fresh.
my dogs have always liked it too.
well cats are usually drawn to the cat nip… we have a spray, there’s other forms of it but we like the spray. we spray her scratching post so she keeps scratching there and no other place.
it doesn’t really make her hyper she just stays scratches on her scratching post a lot hehe
catnip actually gets them high. its like humans and marijuana. catnip is part of the mint family, and it can have a slight high for humans if smoked
They go into a state of ecstasy. I had a plant one time. The cat would roll in it. You could always grow your own. Your cat would love you for it.
It’s kinda like pot for cats. It mellows them and takes them to la la land.
Mine get all roley-poley and silly on the floor, claw fanatically at their scratching toys, chase each other like fiends, chow down on food, then go to sleep. I had one that didn’t react at all to catnip though!
Cat nip is an herb that has a unique effect on cats. Most cats become mellow, but some cats can become hyper from it. Usually if they become hyper it’s an increase in playfulness or they just want to roll around in the catnip.
Cat nip toys are also a great way to attract your cats to a toy rather then scratching your furniture. Just be careful young kittens don’t usually respond to it. It’s something that happens with age.
It’s a safe herb for humans too. Cat nip tea is actually a good home remedy for a cold.
It comes in wet and dry.
Its Marijuana.. but for cats.
