How do you train a dog to use a litter box ?

Hello,

I’ve been considering buying a dog (probably a pup since it’ll be easier to train) and want to train it to use a litter box. I don’t want to scoop after a dog every now and then and want help in training it. If any of you knows a way to train a dog to use a litter box please let me know.

Thank You.

I’ve tried putting him in it multiple times and I keep him in a carrier when I go to bed and when I am gone so he doesn’t go anywhere in the apartment. He has a litter box in his carrier but rarely uses that one either. How do I solve this problem?

How do I get my cat to use her litter box?

My cat is 18lbs, but very healthy! She uses her litter box to go pee all the time, but will only poo in it once. If I don’t scoop that up before she has to poo again she’ll go on the floor. I’ve been told to get a bigger litter box, but I can’t find any. I live in Germany on a small army base, so they don’t really offer things like that. What do I do??? Help please!

My 1 1/2 year old cat tends to kick the litter out of her box when she uses it. Also, when she thinks she doesn’t feel her litter is enough, she will find whatever she can to throw in the litter box to cover her mess. I find shirts, papers, shoes, and anything else she can find in her litter box. Even when it’s clean when she goes, she still drags things into it. Help?

How can I get my kitten to use the litter box?

I got a litter box for my kitten and she still poops on the floor, under the furniture. How can I teach her to use the litter box?

Four days ago my sister brought home a kitten, and we suspect the kitten is about 3 weeks old.
He has no idea how to use the litter box.
Because the kitten is so small and we have 2 other cats, we put the kitten inside a big box. I also placed a litter box inside his box, but he just poops outside the litter box.

How can I train him to use the litter box?

Conflicted on my cat…advice?

I adopted a stray that was wandering around in my grandparents’ yard. He has all shots, is neutered, etc. etc. etc. However, we also have a small dog that uses a doggie door built into the living room wall, and Gizmo (my cat) will try and escape through it every chance he gets. The doggie door leads outside to a small fenced-in area where our dog does her business, and Gizmo will jump the fence and run around the yard.

To solve this problem, I keep him in my room and his stuff is in my walk-in closet that I never use. He has his litter box, food, water, and I just recently bought him some toys. He gets to wander freely between the two rooms and has a window perch in my bedroom so he can look out the window if he wants to.

However, I have people getting on me about keeping him in 2 rooms of the house because "he needs to go out or he is going to get mean." If I am playing with him, feeding him, regularly scooping his box, etc. are they still right? He loves being outside, but I don’t have money right now to get him a leash, right now it’s necessities (food/litter) until my birthday in August.

Would he "get mean" being cooped up in here another month and a half, roughly? Could I compromise by carrying him outside when I get the mail? I don’t want him to be mean, but I don’t trust him to not go out the doggie door, and I know if he’s not in my room or my walk-in closet, he will go out through the doggie door and be unattended outside. I have heard this isn’t advisable.

Am I being a mean cat owner, too overprotective?

2 cats are 1-1/2 years, 2 cats are 10 months old. All 4 get allong very well. But, one of the younger ones keeps pooping on the floor next to the litter box. I clean it out every morning and he still poops on the floor no matter if the box is cleaned or full.
