How to choose the right kitten from a shelter?

I really like the personality of Russian Blues, but since I can’t get one from a shelter, I’ll have to adopt a mixed kitten.

So, my question is: Since most of the kittens in shelters are muts, how am I to determine its personality (obviously not by breed)?

What will it be like as an adult cat?

I need an affectonate, calm, loyal cat, a cat that can be my best pal.

When do you feed stray kittens dry cat food?

I had a stray cat have babies in my car port. She’s been taking care of them very well. We feed her and another cat as well (that’s all).. I was wondering when do we feed her kittens dry cat food? How do we keep them from going out of the property when they start walking around more? We’re going to trap them and get them fixed when they are old enough.

How do I gat a kitten to eat solid food?

I have a 6 week old kitten and she turns her nose up to any kind of food but moms milk. She sniffs it and trys to bury it like it’s cat litter. I had a litter before her and both kittens did the same..They were 7 to 8 weeks old before they would touch solid food and I had to mix solid with can (cat food) gravy. I have a home for this lil girl and the new owners are ready for her but I dont want to send her to her new home with her not eating dry food. What can I do?

I have 2 nine week old kittens and they occasionally will scratch on our sofa or bed. We bought them a scratching post, and they will use it but only sometimes. How do we encourage them to use the scratching post and NOT scratch on the couch? I don’t want them to develop that habit and i thought now would be a good time to stop it.

We have a four month old female kitten. She has shown signs of being lonely bc my boyfriend goes to school in the morning, spends the afternoon with her, and goes to work until about 10 or 11 at night. I can only usually come over for about an hour during the week and I am there alot during the weekend. She tears up toilet paper and paper towels why we arent there, and whines for attention when we are there. So we decided it was time to get her a friend. It just so happened that our friend had kittens she was giving away. We picked a female kitten that is two months old. We kept our old kitten upstairs and set the new one up downstairs. Everytime we let them meet they hiss at each other but only when they get close. The old kitten is more aggressive and the kitten doesnt seem to care. I know that the older kitten is just scared that she will be replaced. Is there anything we can do to better the situation? Any tips?

Do all my kittens have Pica?

I have 3 kittens, they’re about a month old now. Their mom still nurses them, not as much as she use to but they all have a habit of licking EVERYTHING and i mean, everything. I have them in a room with title floors, i have blankets layed down in there so it’s not to cold for them plus a cat bed and we have a cat capet tower (those big ones at petco) and they love climbing on it.
I’ve heard a little about Pica, where cats like to eat and lick things. I’m not sure if that’s what they have but they LOVE to lick. They lick the title floor, they lick the blankets, me, the tower, themselves, each other lol just about everything. Is this normal?
TILE floors*** typo lol

My cat had kittens in my brothers dresser drawer upstairs a while ago, and once the cats started moving and trying to crawl out, we moved them down stairs to an area where the cats litter box is, and ever since we moved the kittens there, the cat wont use her litter box. We never had a problem with her "leaving" anything on the floors, but now she keeps doing it and wont stop. Is this normal? How do we make her use the litter box again?

A stray cat in our shed is deathly scared of humans and we don’t want the kittens to grow up as strays and then catch the mom to get her fixed but we don’t know how to get the cats out.
Thanks for the answers she will be spayed but I have no idea what to do with the kittens as if they are in shelters they may never find a family

Why does wet cat food come in two sizes?

I just adopted a cat, and while shopping for cat food, I noticed that cans of wet cat food come in two different sizes. Why is this? Is one size for kittens, and the other for adults?

Kittens are in a crate on my covered deck, they were used to being outside at the previous owner’s home, they are around 7-8 weeks old. I just got them yesterday and took them to the vet for their 1st check-up and ever since I got them home and put them in their crate (to keep owls or hawks from getting them while they are so small) and they just keep going into the litter box to lay down, I put a soft towel in for them to lay on, but they prefer laying in the litter box and that doesn’t seem very sanitary.
