Well, we have a 5-6 month old kitten named Lacey and she’s so playful, but the problem is, all our other cats get SO annoyed by her. We have 4 cats including her and her best friend (Well, sometimes) is one of our dogs, Cookie. So, how can I make it so she won’t be bored? These are the things I was thinking about:

How do you make Cat Towers (Homemade)?

Any good homemade toy instructions or ideas would also be helpful. I was thinking about making a cat corner. We have a huge emty corner in our TV room, so I was thinking maybe a huge cat tower with toys and platforms would be nice. Thanks everyone who helps!
Wow! Congrats Moron4! You really helped! *She said sarcastically* Oh, and your user name really fits=P
Can you please help me? I don’t even get the two answers I have now!
Thanks everyone who really helped! Thanks! I might actually just buy a cat tower instead though, I found a REALLY nice one online for .99 freeshipping. But, thanks!=D~

My cats display aggression?

Ok, this is going to be a little long

My first cat was Tommy, i got him when he was thirteen weeks old. I got my second cat, Nala a month later and shes the same age as Tommy. Soon after, Tommy and Nala became mates and had a still born kitten. Nala had to go under immediate operation to remove her uterus, so she can’t produce kittens, and she is also spayed. Tommy was as well neutered, because he was spraying too much in his litter box. But after neutering him, the spraying problem still did not go away.

I got my third cat, simba, a male, a year later, he was…1 year old or something and neutered. i dont remember. Tommy is the nicest cat on the planet. he never hisses at a new cat, or shows any aggression. He tries to befriend them as soon as possible, so this was how it was with tommy and simba. they had no enmity. tommy, of course, was older but he was never territorial or anything.

after simba’s arrival, he kind of stole nala away from tommy. nala and tommy didnt play anymore like they used to. whenever tommy tried to play with her, she would meow, it kind of sounded like a warning meow, and she would run away. only simba and nala played with eachother.

and whenever tommy tried to play with simba, simba usually was kind of scared of tommy when he playfully stalked him. simba wud run under the bed and tommy would sit there, meowing and waiting for him to come out. i always saw it as play fighting, and i was sure it was at that time, because tommy was never aggressive.

so now its been 4 years since ive had all of them, and their relationships were fine. it was like they were a real family. until february 2009.

i started noticing more aggression in simba and tommy’s playing behavior. when tommy pounced on him, he would screech more than meow. i never gave much thought to it, until my mom brought it to my attention.

for two or three days, i also noticed a spray of pee which formed into a 1 inch puddle in the bathtub. i know that it’s tommy’s because simba doesnt have the habit of spraying. so then i started to think that the problem tommy had was territory. but after all of these years why would tommy choose to fight for territory now? i thought they were like brothers.

recently, whenever tommy pounces on simba, they get into a BIG cat fight. rolling around, growling, hissing, scratching… but tommy doesnt hiss or growl. its only simba. i know that tommy scratches and bites simba more than just playfully because ive found scratches on both of them which had turned into scabs. ive also noticed this killer expression tommy has on whenever hes stalking simba. before i was in doubt but now i really think tommy is reacting with aggression.

only one of them can be in a room. if tommy is out, then simba seeks perching on the top of my kithcen cabinets, which is near the ceiling. and whenever tommy is sleeping in the closet (which is for the whole day) simba can freely roam the house.

also, what i think is cute is that whenever simba and tommy get into a fight, nala hisses and growls and attacks both of them. it looks like shes trying to stop them. but is that also a problem?

what can u make of this situation and how do i stop this aggression?? oh, also i spray tommy with water whenever hes stalking simba. but that’s not working.
i appreciate all answers. thnx!

My kitten likes to lie down in her litter box because it is cool there. How do I stop her without making her stay out of it for its intended purpose?

Confused about feral cats?

I just adopted a 4 month old kitten from someone who found her outside somewhere. She seems clean, clean ears, soft coat – and the person who found that cat took her to the vet for shots/spay and then gave me. He made a comment that the cat may be feral since she was found outside. I didnt think much of it until I got home to do research about caring for my new cat that a website said this:

"A feral cat is a free-roaming outdoor cat that has never been socialized around humans. Most feral cats live in bonded groups or colonies. They gather where they can find shelter and a reliable food source. As they have always lived outside they cannot be tamed and cannot be adopted into homes."

I noticed she growls whenever I touch her and I didnt know a cat could do that. However, Im a bit concerned now because if the above is true – that means the kitten and I will never bond. How can you tell a feral cat?

We have two adult female cats and we had just brought in a kitten. The other two cats go in the litter box, but the kitten always wants to go behind our couch and love seat all of the time. How is the best way to get her to stop going there and start going in the litter box?
My wife takes her and the poo to the litter box, to show her where to go but it seems not to work very well.

Got a kitten a couple weeks ago…need help?

I got a kitten about 2 weeks ago and he is the sweetest ever. But he keeps biting me and I point the spray bottle at him (he knows what it is) and he stops. He will continue to do it though. I’ve been reading other cat related answers and they say they need chewing toys? Also should I get him a perch to sit on. I have a few rattling ball things, fishing line toy, bed, little kitty box to play in, and a scratch post. I just cant find the perfect toy for him, he doesn’t play with the self entertainment toys. Only the fishing line toy that I have to control.
Very funny…

My 2 kittens love lights directly on them???!?

I have 3 kitties. 1 is almost a year, 1 is 4 months, and 1 is 2 1/2 months. The 2 young kittens like to sit on top of my computer tower right underneath or near the desk lamp when its on… If i turn it off, they will meow for me to put it on and then either take turns laying there, or curl up together and sleep with it directly on them..

My fiance jokes around and says they are "sun bathing", or "tanning". that is exactly what it looks like too!…. Like they are just basking away in the "sun" lol!

it is funny and cute, I at first though it was just a quiet place for them to sleep and they liked that, but I am realizing now that it is in fact the lamp.

The 2 1/2 month old kitten does it more than the 4 month old, but they both do it. They sometimes even fight for the spot lol! Right now my 2 1/2 month old kitty is laying under it and sleeping away. If i turned it off, he’d get up and sleep somewhere else, like on the bed or his their cat tower.. so that is how I know it is the lamp.

Question… Is this weird?? Normal?? why do they like the light so much??? my almost 1 year old kitty doesn’t care about it at all and I never see her doing it.

My fiance says it has something to do with how kittens can’t control their body temperature like newborn babies can’t??. they like to feel warm because when they were with their mother and litter mates, that is how it felt…

Is he right?

thanks!
sorry for a few typos.

How do I train my kitten to use the litter box?

With a kitten I had yrs ago, I put her in the box and scratched her paw in the litter, and she always went back to the box. With this new kitten I scratched her paw in the liter, and a few minutes later she went potty in her bed! What can I do. (I am not allowing her full run of the house since she may use it anywhere.)

What do you think of the hairless cat breeds?

I am adopting a sphynx soon and was wondering what other people thought about hairless cats. Not just the sphynx but donskoys and any other mix like bambinos, minskins, peterbalds, etc.

I love the personality of hairless breeds because they have been bred to be so domesticated and people-friendly. They run to the door when you come home not run and hide and they just sit in your lap as long as you’ll let them. It is also a huge plus that they don’t leave terrible cat hair all over the furniture!
"a terrible example of human interferance". Actually, the first sphynx was in canada and was a natural mutation seen in a kitten of a barn cat. Sphynx are outcrossed with American short hair, extreamly healthy, and great for families with children or dogs because of their personality.
They dont "leave body oil everywhere"! Perhaps if you have multiple cats and do not bathe them regularly. I have 1 dog right now and I bathe him, clip his nails, and clean his ears at least once a week. With the kitten I will probably do it even more often. Some sphynx need it more often than others depending on the degree of hairlessness.
Okay the last answer was really rude. I have "checked my facts". I know they produce oils and that can be left on the furniture but I am planning to bathe him every couple of days. Oils also have to do with the degree of hairlessness. I also will have to clean his nail beds, clip his nails, and clean his ears a lot. This is just part of it and all things I already do with my dog. I am not looking for a low maintenance pet.

I have researched the breed, spoken with 3 different vets and many many breeders. Because every sphynx that has survived has been kept indoors only (they can not survive outside) they are more domesticated than other cats whose ancestors may have been allowed to roam out doors. In addition, they are great for children and pets as their skin is actually much thicker than other cats. It is a protective feature that evolved to keep the sphynx safe. Their skin is like a leather and because of their faster than normal metabolism they heal wounds faster.
