I have been taking care of the generations of this cat "pride" since I moved to my house here five years ago. Sometimes they aren’t so wild, and the cat I am writing about is sweet and lets me pet him. Yesterday I noticed that he has been attacked by some other, larger animal by his tail. It looks like where his tail meets the rest of his body is just raw and painful from the wound. Skin and hair has been ripped off in about an inch diameter all around the tail, and there are deep puncture fang marks as well. I got close enough to see it is in fact, infected. Its also been about 100 degrees outside and I am really worried for this guy.

Should I try to cut the fut away from the wound, and if I do, what next? I know I need to sanatize the wound, but I am afraid hydrogen peroxide would sting and hurt him really bad, this wound is pretty fierce. I can’t afford to take him to the vet right now, but I want to do what I can to help him.
I forgot to mention I have to indoor cats who are very teritorial, so I can’t bring him inside. Even if I shut him in the bathroom, they would smell him. Last time I did that with a feral kitten we got infested with fleas.

I did use some peroxide on him and he didn’t seem to mind a bit. I really appreciate being told it wouldn’t sting him, I really thought it would. I am going to keep doing that and then slather some triple antibiotic cream on him.

I put him in a cage and gave him food water and a litter box. I posted an ad on craigs list in the lost and found and I am going to take him to the vet to be scanned. I brought him inside and he is now in my bedroom bathroom, so there are two door seperating him from my other two indoor cats. I’m kind of at a loss on what else to do with him. I can’t afford to keep him (pay for his vet bills) any ideas?

Now that the weather is warming up, I’m letting them outdoors for supervised play. One of the girls, whenever she goes outside, starts hissing and growling at the other two. She lets me pick her up, so the aggression is not directed at me at all, but it’s unlike her to be so aggressive to the other two. Anyone have any ideas how I can get her to calm down? This didn’t happen last year when I let them all outside.

They are currently at 2 weeks old, and with perched ears and open eyes, they’re starting to become awful curious. As much as my mom loves the mother cat (and boy does mommy cat love us. This stray cat lets us pet her, hold her, she licks us. ect) she won’t make her or the kittens indoor cats. We’ve had cats before, and they tore up the couches, so she’s stuborn to not let that happen again.

So, these newborn kittens are living outside. We feed mommy cat, keep them warm in a nice cozy box, ect. But I’m very worried for when the kittens start leaving the box. They’re already poking their heads out. We live not only right next to the road, but next to a railroad track with an active train. We don’t have a fence that completely covers the yard (strays are always coming and going) I fear these kittens are going to be killed before I can possibly find them a good home.

How do I care for them?

I have them on weight control food.
They are lazy and don’t get much exercises, but lie around all day.
How can they lose weight? I have the one cat on wet food twice a day and the other cat only on dry food. He sometimes eats the other cats wet food. One is a female calico and the other is a mackerel Tabby male..
