Should I stop my cats from fighting?

I have a 3 year old male cat (Floyd) and a female cat (Sophie) who is older than him, but not sure how much. She isn’t a senior or anything. Both cats are fixed.

Floyd tends to suddenly leap onto Sophie, and starts biting her neck, almost playfully (can’t tell if its fighting mode or not, he still has alot of the kitten still in him) Sophie dislikes this, and will growl and hiss and try to get him off (she’s rather plump and has a hard time reaching the slim 3 year old). The "fights" (fights or playing or Floyd just annoying Sophie?) don’t last very long, maybe 30 seconds. Most of the time it ends with Sophie exiting the room, and Floyd doesn’t follow her.

They are both de-clawed in front (I adopted them that way) indoor cats, but I take Floyd out on a leash (and boy I feel dumb with a cat on a leash!). I began to take him outside because he would stare outside, and meow constantly. When I take him outside he doesn’t start a spat with Sophie as often.

As for anyone who is wondering I do have toys for them (play mice, catnip, one of those cat tunnels to run through, feather stick etc.) and I play with them almost every day. I live in a large house with five bedrooms, lots of windows, and lots of kids, and a bird, and a hamster.

Is Floyd playing and is Sophie just a boring adult cat who doesn’t want to play? Or is Floyd being territorial, and trying to clear the room of other cats?
P.s. I only walk Floyd around the house on a leash. We don’t walk the neighborhood. I’ve always had indoor/outdoor cats (with full claws) so this is new for me. I’m not going to discontinue the outdoor trips at this point. I don’t believe in living in fear of freak accidents.
Also, last year Floyd was so bored when I went on vacation (there were other people home though) that he kept running outside and eventually broke out a window. Then he freaked because he wasn’t familiar with his surroundings and was missing for a week. I got him back via a humane raccoon trap that I set up in my backyard.

What are the best Lap Cat breeds?

Looking for a very affectionate playfull family pet
What cat breeds would be more suitable as indoor cats
I have owned cats that i have adopted from the SPCA but sadly had to give them to my family when i moved from SA
My other cats were almost always outdoors and werent very affectionate but I still love them to bits
So please help, I heard ragdolls make excellent lap cats
But are there other breeds that do too?
I know its mostly personality that makes them lap cats but some breeds are more laid back than others
I am not looking for a very hyper and vocal cat
Thanks a lot :)

I have four (4) indoor cats. They have lots of cat toys and scratching posts and I even permit them to scratch the furniture. (its ugly furniture anyway) But my main concern is that they are scratching on the door frame of my bedroom! It’s a wooden door frame and they are just tearing it up! Is there any way that I can get them to stop scratching at the frame? Help!

Cutting a cat door into an exterior wall?

I have (2) declawed indoor cats and would like to build a covered enclosure outside on the patio for their pooboxes, and an area for food and water.
The cats would enter/exit through a cat door, but i would like to place in through an exterior wall. How do i determine where to cut without cutting pipes or wires? And what tool should i use for the cutting?

My house has sheetrock on the inside, and hardy plank on the outside.

Hi, I’m going to rescue an older cat from the shelter (debating on actually rescuing 2 older cats). What’s the best kind of litter box (I see different kinds) or is just the big old plastic bin the best? I know foods and I’m picking up a scratching post/cat condo tomorrow. What else should I get before bring the cat home? I’m doing a lot of research before I get the cat(s).
The cats will be indoor cats only and will be neutered. Thanks.

Have you got an Indoor cat ? Can you put my mind at rest pls?
Question Details:Hi everyone !

I have decided to get a Maine Coone but im such a worry wort I need reasurance that Indoor cats are happy just as that or are there some that long to go out & about at their own free will ?

I plan on getting a Neutured Tom cat.The last thing I want is to get him home & find that he wants out all the time as I just wouldnt be happy with him doing so. There are some nasty people out there who hate animals :(

Do you think if I get a Kitten & have him inside from young he will get used to it ? What kind of toys shall I get to make life more exciting for him ?

Im sorry Ive asked a thousand Q’s – I just need everything to be puuuuurfect !

Thanks allot everyone

I switched her cat food to a cat food for older indoor cats and it is supposed to have some of the greens in it that she used to like to eat in the yard. However, her coat has become dull and not shiny, and I don’t think it is just her winter coat going away and her summer coat coming in. My mother says to put oil on her food but I do not know how much or if that is a good idea.

I have 2 indoor cats. One boy and one girl. (If that information was needed)…
Okay, so grass or catnip are the answers. But will they eat it only when they are feeling sick or just for the heck of it?

Are feral cats happier in the wild?

Im a loving cat owner of to INDOOR cats but i have an acheing heart for wild stray/feral cats. Everynight I prombtly put food out for several feral cats that come by my house for a nice meal. Most of them (about 4-5) happily eat then go on their own seperate ways, but one of them seems to like hanging out in my back porch(hanging out meaning he come after dusk, not sit around all day) Im grown very attached to this speacial cat an wonder if i should take the next step. Granted my own two cats are very jealous when i feed and spend time with "strangers" but my love for cats would never turn me away from feeding a needing feline. This cat that I have grown attached to has come into my house a couple of times but then 10-15 min later runs back out. My question is do I try to make this cat more acustomed to indoor living and make him my third live in feline, or is it better to let a free living outdoor cat stick to what he knows and stay outdoors???
