Butter’s is now 2 years old, was spayed at 7 months, and is maybe about 20lbs. He does the normal cat thing: lay around and sleep most of the day (not really active). His an indoor cat.
Recently I brought in a wild cat and nursed her back to health. Dotty had runny eyes and nose. A phone call to the vet said a possible upper respiratory infection.
About 2 weeks after I brought her in Butters starts with the runny eyes. He had somewhat of a drippy nose, but nothing like Dotty’s at all. I went out and bought some saline solution to help clear up his eyes and it worked pretty well. His eyes no longer bother him.
About a week ago I applied some of the Sergent’s Gold Squeeze-on solution for fleas. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with my problem, but thought it important information.
Butters hasn’t been jumping up to his favorite perch here lately, has been coughing like he’s going to get sick (but doesn’t actually throw up), and he’s shivering. In his sleep shivering, not like stretching or seizure shivering. He has a dry nose, but cool ears. Gums look regular to me (I don’t often look into his mouth). Has been sleeping closer to me here lately and has changed his petting preferences. He’s really whinny: not necessarily when I pick him up, but even if I try to scoot him, tell him move, or generally walk past him. He’s normally a quiet cat, only meowing if he’s food is out.
I plan on calling a vet as soon as they open. Just though I’d get some opinions before then.
