I’m looking to get a cat. I don’t want a purebred because I cannot afford it but would like to rescue a cat from the local shelter. I cannot stand stupid cats and I want a good house cat who is independent but still loving … and definitely not stupid.
Cause I own one and she is a 9 week old kitten and I want her to be a house cat and not act all wild.
I have a long haired Maine Coon named Pooh Bear. Ive had him for 3 years now and hes been a house cat ever since. I do not know his official age because I took him in after sleeping couple nights at my front door. Had no collar, and appeared to be abandoned by previous owner. Anyways for 4 days now he is acting weird. Slow and sluggish, the cat acts as if he is tremendously weak. his reflexes arent as sharp and the cat is sleeping in a corner of a room upstairs at night. During night time the cat would usually perch up at the windows in the living room. Pooh Bear is also throwing up consistently throughout the day. Nothing comes out, nothing like digested food its just clear fluid like water. His food consumption consists of 1 pouch of gravy like substance with meat in the mornings and crunchy meow mix throughout the day. (I just fill up his bowl with meow mix whenever its empty) He is not eating like he used to. What could be wrong. I have 1 other person living at home including myself thats sick with phlegm and strep throat, could be a fever coming from the weather. Could my cat catch our sickness? is he just sick or getting old possibly dying? Anyway let me know. Thanks
People who call me racist because I said "Coon" is obviously ignorant. The word "Coon" originated from the close resemblance of "Raccoons" from the state of "Maine". There are many types of cats, mine happens to be a Main Coon. jeeeeez!
I live behind a large farm field. Sometime earlier this summer a cat had kittens. As soon as I was aware they were out there I started to put out food and water. Unfortunately, there are hawks, coyotes, eagles and other wild life nearby. To date, I have only seen 2 kittens who have grown to be a reasonable size. The mother cat and the other kittens have probably been killed. I’m still putting food out but there is another big cat (probably someone’s house cat ) who comes around and terrorizes them. It’s starting to get colder and I’d like to catch them and try to find them a good home before winter. It breaks my heart to think of them being out in the bad weather.
Can anyone help me, I need to teach my Orange House Cat how to attack, to protect the house from any evil creatures that try to break in.
This is a stray neighborhood cat that adopted me and I trained her to come in and out of the dog door by coaxing her through with a morsel of beef. She is very affectionate and loves to spend time with me. I would like to train her to do other "tricks"; what have other people trained their cats to do, and how ? The circus trainer Gunther Gebel-Williams, who trained everything including big cats said the hardest animal to train was the house cat. This cat lives on rabbits and mice and birds. I have been yelling and stomping my feet every time she goes to sharpen her claws in the carpet and she always stops but I don’t know if aversive conditioning will sink in long term. I want to train her to use a scratching post exclusively.

my wife just purchased an italian leather living room set, my cat has been scratching at it, so since shes a house cat we decided to look into getting her declawed b4 she destroys the leather. what kind of affect would that have on her if any?
