We’ve tried a cone but he didn’t like it and my mother gave in to his cute face and took it off.
and we’ve tried putting vasaline on it…

Other than a cone and vasaline what home made things can we get him scratching?

Leaving scars and a big patch of her fur is missing. If i cant find anything to help her, im going to have to put her to sleep. Thats the last thing i want but, she looks like she’s in pain. :[

(she is my parents) That thing sheds crazy. After living with her I have decided NO cats for me in my lifetime. She sheds more than the two dogs combined. We use the furminator on all the pets. If she even rubs against you, you get COVERED in fur.

Just curious.
Are any breeds of cats low shedding?? (Besides Sphynx)

At the beginning she had two cats and i had one… a month go i brought my other cat (who was being watched by someone else for a while) into the picture. The cat has unusual behavior.First, he bullies other cats when they eat, so you have to watch and make sure the other cats eat too. he will hiss and raise the fur on his back until they move. He wont even chew the food he eats, it seems like he doesn’t want the other cats to eat. mind you, hes fed separately in a different room a few times a day. He will eat to the point that he will throw up. Another weird thing he does is he will push the water tower and knock it over until Therese water everywhere, every time! He has stopped cuddling with my friend, and she doesn’t know what to do… and i want to get to the bottom of it, because im afraid my cats will go without =(… Please help! is it a dominance issue? mind you, he had the food problem long before the more recent cat…

But on her back it used to be really furry and fuzzy but now all the fur that’s left is hard hair. It’s just a small patch of hard course hair on her back. But I was wondering why this happened? My vet told me to brush him daily since he coughs up a hairball at least once a week.

I have tried a slicker brush, pin brush, soft bristle brush and comb. He hated the first two brushes and comb and wouldn’t let me brush him anywhere with them. The bristle brush didn’t do anything because it couldn’t penetrate his top layer of fur and he wouldn’t let me use it on his belly.

I just got a rubber brush and it works and he tolerates it anywhere but his stomach. I don’t want to have to hold my cat down to brush his stomach every night while he is yowling and trying to bite me.

He is a Maine Coon so he has a lot of fur.

I have to comb him every day to prevent mats in his fur. I give him treats all the time while combing him. I give him about 5 treats before I comb his tail even at this time he always hisses at me. He growls constantly while i comb him. Why does he get so mad? How can I get him to enjoy it?

Also, whenever I try to hold him he always gets really mad and sometimes end up hissing.

She has never tolerated brushing. She gets these huge matts in her fur, and end up having to cut them out with a clipper or scissors. It’s a very stressful event for both of us. Does anyone know of a good tool to remove these matts? I know brushing is a better option but I would have to brush her twice a day and she would have me shredded to bits. Once a week removing matts is better. Thanks!
