How to introduce a cat to a kitten?

Hey guys!
I have an 8 year old female Maine Coon. I will temporarily be keeping a 3 month old kitten for about 1.5 months. I was wondering; what’s the best way to introduce the kitten to make this temporary transition go smoothly?
My Maine Coon, she’s never been fond of other animals. She has been bred once, and she was GREAT to her own kittens. But she has never liked ANY other cats, or dogs.
I was just wondering about some general tips to make this go smoothly. Or any personal experiences!
Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.

i live in a house with a small dog door for dogs up to about 25 lbs. if i get a cat are there ways to prevent the cat from copying what the dog does and going out the dog door? (don’t worry about the dog, he’s gentle towards cats and i will be keeping a close eye on them for the first few weeks of introducing them.)

ANYWAY please tell my ways to prevent the cat from trying to go out the dog door thank you!

Are there any stylish cat towers?

When my kitten was living full-time in my room due to our dogs, my beige-carpeted cat tower was just fine. He used it, and there was little style consideration and my bedroom is generally kept private. Plus, it was out of passing-guest view. Now that he’s been Integrated into our previously dogs-only home, we’ve moved the tower to the only place we found he would still use it–the family room. Me being sixteen, I still live with my parents and my mother finds the carpeted accessory to be a major faux-paus. She has put a lot of work and money into our stylish home, and we believe that it would be a good idea to get a new one worthy of guest’s viewing and keep the other in my room. This is the only way he won’t scratch the carpeting. Is there anything we could do?

My friends have a kitten that’s only a few months old. They just bought new furniture and was wondering if there was any surefire way to keep her from scratching and clawing at the furniture?

I know a vet once recommended moth balls for dogs to keep them off furniture. Any suggestions?

Cleaning out a cat box during pregnancy?

I’m pregnant, and I know the risks of cleaning out a cat box – the toxoplasmosis thing. And I live with two other people (roomates). I have two cats. I’ve offered to trade chores with them, asked them if they could please help me out, but they won’t. I’m stuck cleaning out the box. My cats are indoor cats, but there are dogs in the house that go outside. I always wash my hands after I’m done. Is this enough? Or is there a better way?

How to get claw marks out of carpets?

My dogs like to roll around on their backs and they leave "scratch" marks in the carpeting. Vacuuming doesn’t work. I keep their claws clipped (say that 5 times very fast). Will cleaning the carpet help?
I’ve tried vacuuming back and forth over the spots, letting the vacuum sit on the marks, vacuuming in a wiggle pattern. I’ve also tried rubbing them out with my fingers and also with a wet sponge.

Help!

If you give a cat one of those little toys that has catnip it it, the cat usually goes crazy. I was wondering if anyone knows of anything that does the same thing for dogs.

How do you introduce kitty litter box training?

Ok, so I read up on cat psychology, and I understand the reasons why a cat would stop using the kitty litter box… But how do you train a kitten to use the kitty litter box in the first place? I was under the impression that cats were not like dogs in the fact that they do not respond to influence, or peer pressure. So how is it done?
(This is just out of curiosity)
