To Dad:
(Before you read this please read this thoroughly)
I have been doing a lot of research on cats and the benefits that they can bring to the household. In addition to the enjoyment we will receive from the cat, I will learn responsibility and we will be helping a cat that my have been euthanized otherwise. Additionally, cats are proven to reduce blood pressure and they are also proven to reduce stress in the household. I know you may be worried about the expense of adding a feline to the household (especially with today’s economy) but I can assure you that I have planned a budget to help cover the costs of the cat. I have a part time job and will contribute all of my money to the expenses of the cat BEFORE purchasing anything for myself. I understand the costs and have created a list of supplies as well as their costs to follow. I have also included a schedule for the care of the cat which shows when I will feed, clean the litter box, groom and train the cat. I am willing to sign a contract that if I do not take care of my obligations to the cat in terms of the cost or the responsibility I will lose a privilege such as TV, phone or computer for a length of time determined by you.

List of Costs
Cat from an animal shelter 0 or less (includes shots, spay/neuter)
Food per month
Litter per month
Litter box
Water and food bowls
Scratching post
Toys
Annual veterinary care (non emergency) or saved per month.

Total startup: 2 and Monthly after that:
Contract:

I Jonathan Glidewell accept to the duty of owning a cat. This will include of paying for the whole economical costs, paying for the supplies, grooming, training the cat, scooping up the cat’s poop when I go see the litter box I will scoop up the poop and pee. I will groom the cat regularly on a daily basis if it has long hair or if it is short haired every other day. If the cat bites or scratches up anyone I will get a small spray bottle and spray it and eventually it will realize that doing that is wrong. I will open up a saving’s account and save up money for the emergency vet. I will also plan to get the kitty just right after he got his shots and has been spayed/neutered.

i have two pit bulls one male one female. i understand putting cats and dogs together is a risk but me and my mom are cat people while my dad and brothers are dog people so we are trying to find a cat that can roam the house without getting into to much trouble with my dogs.
my dogs listen very well
and i love my dogs and i personally think breed doesnt make a difference im mainly asking weather or not a large cat breed would be better

I had a dog CInnamon. She got pregnant and had 6 puppies. She died 24 hours after giving birth from an agressive infection. Well… as hard as it was, we raised all 6 puppies and they all lived. They all got new homes in October. My mom kept 2. I kept one and my coworkers adopted the other three.

Well…. my mothers 2 and mine were VERY close. They play all the time. They would go to the vet together and everything. They all had their shots and got check out and had clean bills of health.

My mom called me to tell me that Doobie died this morning. She was fine this morning and woke up and were playful and happy. But mom left for work this morning. When my dad woke up he went to go let them out to go potty, but only Dozer went. When he found Doobie she was dead. He found her in the cat tunnel ( a padded fabric box with a hole in it)

My parents were excellent to those dogs and took care of them better than anyone I know. Dozer is mouring. How can I help her?
Dozer is looking lost….. keeps looking for her. Also… since we dont know what killed her…. I dont know what to look for to keep Dozer safe.

There were no poisons left low. She died in her box so it was not like she got a wire or anything. We were not told by the vet that she had anything wrong with her heart or anything. I just dont know what to do.

How to teach a cat to be less agressive?

My cat is 9 years old..She’s getting lazier ad lazier..and she doesn’t like to be touched and played with anymore. She gets a mean look on her face, ears tilted back…and eventually if I don’t leave her alone she either tries to bite or scrach me (not too badly).

She especially doesn’t like when my hand approaches her head to pat her..or when I’m towering over her.

She used to be a sweet, sweet, loving cat ..she still is, I just don’t know how to teach her to be less ready to scrach:) She seems so introverted now.

Can I use food or a certain training to teach an old cat new tricks??? Ideas?
nobody is abusing the cat, on the contrary, she’s very spoiled.

My dad used to play with her (the cat loves him sooo much, she’s always following him in the house and purrrs and wans to be peted by him)..and she used to bite him playfully…now she just bites me whenever she wants..

I don’t know about pains..when she does want to play, it’s like she’s 1 year old again!

What are some hypoallergenic cat breeds?

Hey!!!:) I was looking at ragdoll cats to buy but then I asked a different question her and people were saying that those kinds of cats are not hypoallergenic and since my dad is allergic I cant get one. So now what breed can I get that is very affectionate and loves to snuggle and is not very wild? And are ragdolls like that? Do they have that personality? And since Ragdolls are not hypoallergenic why are they so expensive? and tell if they they are hypoallergenic. Thank you!!!!!!!!:)

How do i make my outdoor cat a indoor cat?

I have a neutered male cat named smokey. he used to be a outdoor cat but he kept getting into trouble, he even got hit by a car and everyday he would bring a live mouse into the house then eat it so i decided to try keeping him in. he always tries to get out but i dont let him. the problem is my dad always lets him out when im not home so my cat can never get used to being an indoor cat. if you have any advice on what to do that would be great thanks.

How to stop my cat from scratching the speakers?

we had our cat declawed at the front 2 years ago but now hes starting to scratching things, most of the time its the tower speakers for our surround sound system.
the black cloth needs to be replaced at this time and we are wondering how to stop the cat from getting his little paws on this expensive stuff…

any ideas?
Thanks for the ideas everyone.

I’ve tried them all

Water bottle - hes used to it now
Smack on the head - wont listen
Loud noise - gets used to it like the water although he still hates the vacuum
Electric fence - Always thought about something like that lol

Ive never heard of pepper or tape but ill try the tape as its cleaner…maby some inside out ones that will stick to his hands…they seem to dislike that one lol

The thing is he gets into a crazy hyped up mood and will just out of nowhere, run to the speaker and claw it for a few seconds, run away and then do it again when nobody is watching him
hes a sneaky one he is

He has a post upstairs but he likes to be with everyone and we are always down in the basement on the TV or computers.

We normally would put the post downstairs but my dad made it upstairs and forgot to make sure it fit though the doorways.

as I said, I’ll try the tape thing and pepper if it fails.

I’ll be back in a day or two to pick a best answer

I know this question has been answered already, but my parents are like brick walls.

I researched cat care, supplies, costs, etc. already and showed off my knowledge to my parents.

My dad believes that I won’t be able to take care of the cat properly. My mom thinks I’ll suffer heartbreak when it dies.

I am the sole caretaker of the goldfish in my house. I also do lots of housework, such as: vacuuming, making bed, folding laundry, setting up and cleaning dinner table, occasionally washing dishes, etc.

My parents don’t make deals. Any ideas?

We just put up our christmas tree Saturday morning and all she’s done is climbing. She’s a little over a year old, we’ve had her since she’s 5 weeks. I’ve only got her down once and she bit and used her back claws against me which really pissed her off and went straight back up the tree. I left her alone and she basically just lays in the tree and comes down a little later. She thinks it’s just a place to lay and that the ornaments are her toys. She never goes to the top, just the middle or bottom. But my mom is scared she’s going to knock it over or ruin the ornaments, and we’re worried about her getting hurt.

I don’t know what to do, i’ve tried telling her firmly no, but she just does it anyways. I’ve tried to lightly spank her, she just thinks i’m playing with her. And now my dad is threatening to spray her with water, which I don’t approve of.

Any suggestions, or anyone that’s gone through the same situation and has got there cat to stop?
