My husband just bought a used couch from furniture company for 0 but the thing smells like cat pee. I have tried a pet odor neutralizer but it didn’t even help and I can’t pinpoint the source of the smell. It seems to be all along the top, where your head is. Please tell me we did not just waste 0. Help!
Okay well I got my cat to stop climbing on the counters and eating surfaces and it was relatively easy, didn’t take long and I didn’t have to scare him or yell or even squirt him with water BUT now he won’t climb on stuff that is okay for him to climb on and won’t even get on the couch or bed unless I’m on it. I know cats like to be up high and when I take him outside to play I will throw a knotted piece of rope in the low branches of a tree and he climbs up and gets it so he’s not totally broke of climbing and seems to really love running up and down the tree. Even when I sun bathe I will take him out with me and the first thing he does is run up the tree and just chill.
My question is how can I teach him what indoor stuff he can climb on?
I have tried leaving treats and toys and stuff that he has slept on (so he will recognize his scent) and he still won’t climb up on the perches he used to love inside.
Any more tips?
No I haven’t tried buying a perch that was intended for cats because before he would get up on stuff that was okay for him to be on. I might get a cheap one to test it out and if it works I’ll get him a nice big one I have a huge living room.
I had a canvas type couch that my precious little kitties (innocent looking gismo looking gremlins) shredded.
Is it true that cats do not claw through microfiber furniture? Anyone with experience? Thanks

Me, mum and my brother bought a kitten 3 months old on Monday and it just won’t stop crying whenever it doesn’t see any people around it.
But in my room and my brother’s room the kitten totally changes. It follows me around and it doesn’t cry (like it does in the living room) and it doesn’t hide either.
Whenever she is in the living room, she hides under the couch or she runs really fast to my room and she hides under the bed.
I really need your help!
He is as cute as a button, and very smart. Hes about 4 months ago and knows how to use the litter-box. He is very loving. One problem. We often find little ‘presents’ behind the couch and in a hallway. Its not as if the bathroom door is closed, and he can’t get in to use the litter-box. It seems like he just refuses to walk ‘all the way’ to the litterbox. It isn’t far.
Lately my cat has started to claw apart our new couch. My parents want to get her declawd but I’m worried. My parents did cut her nails last night. Will that make her stop clawing it? If it does how often do we need to cut them? Does declawing a cat hurt them? Will she be mad at us? She has a cat tower that sge climbs up a lot, will she still be able to climb it without claw? She also goes outside sometimes, is it dangerous for her to be out where other animals are without claws to defend herself? What are some other ways to keep her from scratching the couch?

my cat scratches the laundry baskets for some reason. And i want a good material so my cat doesnt scratch my dads couch when i move in with him cause cats are opportunist and i am afraid of that because my dad will get rid of my cat

i got my kitten a pretty large scratching post the other day {like a house on four legs covered in sisal and carpet}, and i don’t have a spot to put it beside the couch, so i was wondering if i could put it down stairs where i usually spend my time and put it in the corner of the room?, and if he would still use it if i put it there?…it is like a fully finished basement and it would be pretty much right in the room, so it’s not shoved away or anything like that.

I dreamed that I was in this weird place with all of these tunnels and things. I was lost in the tunnel and there were colorful monsters. Jaggers, my cat, kept trying to do acrobats and someone hit him and I had to tell them to stop. I was lying on something (it was either a couch or a bed) with my male friend and we were looking on the computer at the second life website. I layed my head on his shoulder and he stroked my hair. I was caressing his hand, then his stomach. My head was on his chest and I was listening to his heartbeat, which was incredibly soothing.
