Why does my cat refuse to use the litter box?

I have a almost 3 yr old female cat, and she is urinating behind the couch, against the wall, and I just now noticed some solid waste on a chair in the basement. The litter box is in the basement, and she shares the home with her sister. But her sister is not having this problem. What can I do to get the odor out, and prevent her from continuing this problem?

My cat won't stop scratching the $2,000 furniture!!!?

My 3 year old female cat gets restless in the winter, because she is such an outdoor cat. so she channels that restlessness on the furniture!! my mom is getting REALLY mad and she says if I don’t find a solution she wants to get rid of the cat! we have a scratching post for her, and we’ve trained her to use it. we use couch covers, anti-scratching spray, and nothing really seems to work. de-clawing is not an option, because her whole life is practically outside and she would be defenseless. what should i do i love my cat to death!

My cat refuses toys, catnip, jingles, sparkling balls, yarn, and all the fun kitty toys- yet when I buy a gallon of milk he runs in the kitchen dives onto the counter and steals the wrap ring you peel off the milk. Then he skitters away and entertains himself for hours or until he looses it under the couch. Even if I throw it away he still gets it. The dog stands on the foot pedestal while he reaches in and grabs it out and I find it that night wrap up in my hair with him in mid leap. Why is it that no matter what you buy a cat, the paper bags and stuff you call junk, is always the ultimate toy?

We have two adult female cats and we had just brought in a kitten. The other two cats go in the litter box, but the kitten always wants to go behind our couch and love seat all of the time. How is the best way to get her to stop going there and start going in the litter box?
My wife takes her and the poo to the litter box, to show her where to go but it seems not to work very well.

I’ve bought her a scratching post, a scratching rug, let another cat scratch the post hoping she’d catch on from watching — to no avail. She still scratches my couch, and my fiance–who has nice furniture–doesn’t want her ruining it. Any suggestions?

restricting cats activity after operation?

I brought my cat home from the vet today. She stayed over night there after being spayed and declawed. I am suppose to restrict her activity for 14 days, but my cat insists on trying to jump on the couch and her tower. I stop her but cant watch constantly so i was thinking of putting her in a large dog carrier when she gets too crazy or when i need to go to work or am sleeping. Is this a mean thing to do? (I work 12 hour shifts) I would have a litter box in the carrier and in the rest of the area would have soft fuzzy baby blankets layed out. I would also make sure to feed her and give her water before putting her in. Also, is it ok to put a heating pad on low temp (with automatic 15 min shutoff so it doesnt get too hot) under the blankets to ease the pain? She is suppose to stay warm because of the medication. and now she keeps going under the couch backwards to try and pull her E-collar off.

My cat keeps scratching?

She is 5 months old and she scratches EVERYTHING. She isn’t leaving any marks I guess because her claws aren’t that strong or long.. or whatever. Anyway, I had a scratching post that I got for my older cat that he never uses and the kitten does use it.. rarely. Its hard to put it in places where she scratches because she scratches the recliner, door jams, the railings on the banister on the stairs, couch… and they’re all over the house! LOL I’ve tried spraying that stuff that is supposed to keep cats away but it didn’t work, and I’ve tried spraying the cat allure stuff on the post, but she doesn’t really care. Any suggestions? I want to correct the behavior and make her scratch acceptable surfaces before she gets older.

Is this well/ or decently written?

(Its a short story called the, "Riddle troll")

“Are you sure you’ll be okay, staying here alone?” Grandmother Vanessa asked me, worry written all over her face as she stopped at the front door. “I’ll be fine, grandma,” I reassured her. “Of ‘course he will!” Grandfather Albert boomed from behind me, clapping me so hard that I nearly stumbled from my perch on the steps as he strode to the front door. “Well, okay…,” Grandmother Vanessa said uncertainly. “But remember, if you get hungry there’s left-overs in the fridge. We’ll be back later on tonight so don’t stay up late watching cartoons!” Grandmother Vanessa gave me a quick, tight hug while Grandfather Albert ruffled my hair roughly. Then, their good-byes said, they departed out into the night. Hearing the door shut, I dashed down the stairs, peering out the living room window as the old Volkswagen rumbled down the gravel road that leading out of the farm and disappearing into the night. Once it was gone, I sat down on the over-stuffed couch in the living room, staring silently at the empty room. Grandma and grandpa had said that they were going to some sort of “party” for old people. At first, I had died-out laughing, thinking of a bunch of old people square dancing to some cheesy country music. I thought it would be cool to have the whole house to myself. But, sitting there all alone with only the silence for company, I suddenly wished Grandpa and Grandma were here instead of some party. After a bit of personal “to-do” thinking, I decided to grab some left-overs and watch some TV to pass the time. I ate my mashed potatoes and chicken in front of the television and watched cartoons until I was too sleepy to keep my eyes open. But, as I dragged myself into the guest room and onto my bed, I got kind of freaked out when the realization dawned on me. I was in my grand parent’s old farm house with tons of miles between me and civilization. I was all alone. Suddenly, as I sat staring at the ceiling, a gray paw shot up right next to my face. I let out a yelp, almost rolling off the bed. I let out a shaky sigh of relief when our old, grey tom cat, Merlin, peeked his face above the folds of the covers. His intelligent yellow eyes looked my face up and down the hopped onto the bed right next to me, rubbing his soft body against me and purring loudly. Sometimes I thought there was more to this old tom cat. Something about his eye told me so. I know this sounds funny, but sometimes when he meows, I think he’s literally talking. I don’t know if it was the soft purring of Merlin’s voice in my ear or the soft pat, pat of the sudden rain, but soon enough, I had drifted into a dreamless sleep. At first when I had woken up I didn’t know why I had woken up. Merlin was looking around the room, his ears perked up in a silent look of caution. The room seemed surprisingly cold, despite that it was in June. “What’s wrong, merl?” I asked, picking him up. But Merlin, with a small growl, pulled away irritably, his ears pinned down. Rain was still pouring outside, splattering against the window in bursts. But there was another noise; the sound of something sharp scraping down a window. I leaped off my bed-almost falling on the floor- then listened, straining my ears to catch the noise. It came again, sounding from my grandparent’s room across the hallway. My heart was racing impossibly fast as I slowly stalked across the hall, followed by a cautious Merlin. I opened the door, and then screamed. Or, that was what I was intending to do. My throat seemed to constrict in fear, stopping my scream short. A monster glared through the slits of the shades on the window, it’s yellow, beady eyes glowing sinisterly. It had a long, pointed nose, almost as distorted as its gnarled fingers that pried and pulled at the lock on the window. Bushy, black eyebrows hung over its evil eyes, and it’s tangled, thin strands of hair hung limply around its grotesque face. Then, with a screech of glass-against-metal, the window rolled up, letting in a volley of rain that pelted me and Merlin. Merlin let out a hiss and took off out the door, leaving me with the hulking monster. I flicked on the lights. The monster shuffled away from the window, but it could still be seen, standing in a puddle of muck. “What are you?” I yelled over the scream of the wind, but to my annoyance, my voice quavered. “Troll,” was its hissing reply.
I had no idea what a troll was. No clue at all. “The lights will burn out,” the troll said with a voice full of whispers. “And then I will come in.” “I’ll turn on another light,” I said, just as a line of lighting boomed in the distance, the light glowing off from the silhouette of the troll. “In a storm like this, your light could die. Anything could happen.” That soft, persuasive voice made me shudder. It was true. But I didn’t say anything. I didn’t do anything. “Let’s play a game while we wait,” the troll said. “I’ll tell you a riddle, and then you tell me one.” “What happens if I
Its a little "lengthy", but I really hope someone reads it through. :)
It didn’t fit it all in, but just tell me what you think about some of it.

Need solution for cat scratching problem?

This cat is technically mine now, she has been my husband’s pet for 7 years, though I don’t claim her. She is a very anti-social cat with about a 2-3 minute window per day where she wants to be petted. Any other time, she is nearby, but doesn’t want to be touched. She growls, hisses, and will swat at you if you go near her. This presents a problem for correcting her scratching problem. She is tearing up the couch, carpets, and our door to the bedroom (we are having a baby so I don’t want her in there anymore) We have tried carpet scratching posts and a sisal material one, but she just lays on them. She actually scratches the carpet outside the post. We put catnip spray toward the top hoping she’d smell it and try to put her claws in, but it didn’t work.

I don’t know if she’s had scratching posts in the past and I think she may just not associate the post with scratching. I’m tired of her tearing things up with her claws. I’m really not sure what to do. I don’t want to have to declaw her, but I don’t see it being possible to clip her nails or cap them. Does anyone have any other solutions?
