she licks treats off of it and stares at me endlessly when i put treats under it

As soon as i noticed he was scratching the couch I covered the trouble area (mostly the corners of the couch) in tin foil, and started putting cat nip on his scratching post. It seems to have worked but I need something more permanent and more visually pleasing than tin foil to protect it. Any ideas?

How long should my cat play with catnip?

is there a time limit on how long a cat should play with catnip. is it bad for them?? we never gave our childhood cat catnip….but now that i have my own she isnt going outside right now so i bought her a catnip mouse. She likes it alot, but i dont know if its bad if she plays with it too much.

My mom used to make cat nip sound bad or something.

good toy to keep my cat occupied?

I have a 4 month old kitten… at least that’s his approximate age. Lately he’s been pretty crazy. He has gone exploring on cupboards that i thought were safe and as i live in an apt, and don’t have a lot of storage space, there is some stuff on cupboards just cause i have no room to put stuff in.
Anyway, i have a lab and they play sometimes but not all the time. And some days i take my lab to day care so he’s all alone for like 9 hours during the day. I can’t have small toys due to the lab. So i bought him a small perch that has a toy hanging from it, but he doesn’t play with that as much, just uses it as a perch. He’d rather play with something he can push around.
So when i come home i do play with him for about a half hour, but he just won’t leave me alone to get stuff done. I know it’s cause he’s bored and wants to play, so i want to address this issue.
I’m considering buying a larger cat condo, thinking he might be really interested in that cause he can climb really high in it, but the only place i have is the corner of a dining room, and my boyfriend is afraid he would rather be by the window (he does spend a lot of time on the window sill).
I’m willing to invest in something that could be pricey as long as it would keep my cat occuppied.
I did buy him one of those "boogie mats" that you put cat nip in but he pretty much ignores it… even when i put a ton of cat nip in it. I just think he’s not a cat nip type of cat.
I’m really thinking of buying the kittie condo. What are ur guy’s experience? Or anything else that is a toy. Like i said no small toys (small balls, mice etc) cause the lab will not leave it alone and i don’t want her to choke.
Thanks!!!!!
and i can’t have another cat (limit in apt is 2 animals). Otherwise that would have been my first option!

My cat is about 8 years old and has never used a scratching post. We have two sisel posts and 2 cardboard floor scratchers throughout our home. Our young cat loves all these scratching posts and uses them all the time. The older one though won’t go near them.

She doesn’t like cat nip, so sprinkling cat nip on the posts or near them doesn’t work. She perfers our 0 rug to scratch on but doesn’t do it every day, so catching her with a squirt bottle is difficult. Putting the posts near/on the rug doesn’t help because she won’t use the scratching posts. We’ve tried those soft paws on her a couple times and they are a disaster - they don’t fall off and kitty ends up at the vet’s office to have them cut out of her pad that they’ve grown into. Cat deterent spray that you buy at pet stores doesn’t work either.

In our old apartment I put down old floor mats from a car and she scratched on those, but they were ugly - don’t really want those in my house.

Maybe a cheap but pretty rug from Ikea for kitty to scratch and some citrus spray to deter her from the nice rug is the solution?

Any thoughts?

I have 3 cats. I put a flat sheet on our queen bed for sanitary reasons. My husband buys loose cat nip and puts it on the bed. Also he puts (loose) dry cat food on the bed. He thinks this is fine. Now when i go to bed i have to shake out the sheet. He thinks this is fine. What is your opinion on this. I think it is beyond stupid. Our couch has turned into a wool blanket with cat nip. Is this reasonable . Who sleeps in a food trough?

Catnip heaven, Does your cat go nuts with cat nip?

This morning I got the cat nip out for my cats tower.
I forgot the bag and left it on the floor.
I came back in to see my cat had tore it open and shreded the bag.

He is running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

He is up the pole that goes to our ceiling and rolling down it. I am not sure how he is not falling to the floor. And i cant find my camera. Ugggg!

And then he just ran to my bedroom looked at me and ran in a circle back to the living room. He found his toy mouse and is growling at it. He is a nut.

What do your cats do when they have cat nip?

Catnip is it really good for cats?

I bought my cat catnip and a cat bed and it came with the cat nip, what really does that do to cats? He laid down in it and he felt so comfortable and hyped. I would just like to know what does cats see from it and how does it effect them.

Two questions in one! I have 2 cats and 2 cat carriers. We have the hard, plastic ones that can be released from above (in case you have a scared kitty) or from in front. They are the standard ones. I have heard the soft "taxis" are more comfortable for the cats. My one cat has a vet phobia, and I want her to be as comfortable as possible. Also, I think the size of the carrier is larger than what we need. Doesn’t smaller spaces make cats feel more secure? Can you have a too large carrier? Secondly, the same cat with the vet phobia, also has OCD (among her many other issues - she is a rescue cat). She constantly licks her back legs and ears to where there are bald patches. They have never been infected or red. I think she does this from stress (she is a very fearful cat) and also boredom. My husband and I have interactive play with both cats at least 20-30 minutes per day. I saw the licking going down, but just noticed another bald spot yesterday! She has plenty of toys. What can I do?
This particular cat prefers to play with us, as opposed to herself. Where our other cat prefers to play by herself than with us. I don’t think she bothers to amuse herself when we aren’t there. We talked about getting a bird feeder and maybe a closed fish tank, to keep them occupied and thinking while we are gone. We don’t have a climbing tree (those carpeted wooden things) because they are so expensive. I think I saw fabric ones at Target for less money. Has anyone tried those? The toys we have are stuffed animals with cat nip inside, balls, feathers on puffy balls, foil balls, etc. I try switching them around a bit, but still nothing. We also have the interactive toys - squeeky mouse on a string, laser light, feathers on a string, etc. She really loves those, but we aren’t always home to play with her.
