Last week my cat was using the litter box fine and then something scared her. Now she won’t use the litter box by herself. I’ve locked her up a few times in the basement when I couldn’t attend to her and she has used the litter box about 50/50% of the time then. When by herself though she walks around the apartment (which is new) crying when she has to go. I carry her to the basement, tell her to go and she does then. I should add that she is 7 years old also. So, can anyone help me please?
Thanks!
1) I put a bed, food and water down for her, so it’s not a ‘jail’.
2) She has NEVER had a problem with the litter box in the basement.
3) When I had another cat (and lived in a house) I used to lock them both up together at night and under vet orders because the other one would not sleep at night. Consequently, my current cat would be the first one to run to the basement when it was time to go to bed.
4) It’s not plausible to put the litter box anywhere else as I’m living in an apartment.
Thanks!

I could probably write a book detailing the silly things my little girl does. Here are a few examples.
When I bought her a cat tower for the first few days she wanted me to pick her up and put her on top of it. She huffed and puffed when I did not do it but finally realized I’m not going to let her be lazy. Now she jumps up on it with no problem.
Sometimes at night she will get what I call "lemur butt." She will run around the apartment full speed with her tail fluffed up. This usually happens when she was hanging out on my deck so I assume she saw another cat outside and got worked up.
If I ever have something on my coffee table that isn’t usually there she will make a point to jump up on the table and knock whatever it is onto the floor.
The last one is just cute. She loves to play string so if I am busy with something and she is bored she will pick up the string and trot over to me. Then she will paw at me until I start playing.
There is no real point to this question other than sharing funny cat stories.
To go along with the string scenario Kitta will bring multiple toys on my bed at night and try to wake me up to play. Since I always sleep on my back I usually find toys on my chest in the morning.

I live in apartment and I fear the legendary vocalization of Siamese will be a problem, but maybe not. They will be about 18 weeks old.

Probably it is itching. She is 3 years old, neutered, and permanently in the apartment, so an infection is improbable.

I’d like to install one but I don’t want any undesirable rodents making an apartment out of my garage. Any experiences anyone?

Just wondering. We keep this apartment exceptionally well kept and clean.
The cat scratches my door and it is all scratched up.. We paid a big deposit for the cat though (as well as a regular deposit).
Do you think the management will want extra for the door, or is that what the deposit is for?

I might be moving into a cat-friendly apartment next year.
I was wondering how much it would cost for food, kitty litter, toys, scratching post, and cat treats every month for a 3-7 year old cat (I would like to get one from a shelter). I know I could look up the prices but I’m not sure how much I would need.

I have a 4 month old kitten that never leaves my side when I am home. She is a very affectionate cat and very good around groups of people. I live in an apartment where I don’t want to leave the litter or food outside of my bedroom as I have a roomate and it’s not his responsibilty to have to deal with those things. I want them out of the way for everyone and my room is the best solution…
I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me to keep my cat from going onto my bed, when I am sleeping or otherwise. One reason is that I am losing sleep as she wakes me up almost every night. But the main reason is that she has flared up a breathing problem for me as her dander gets on my bed. Any advise would help…
Thanks…..

Hi everyone. This is the most recent of several questions that I have asked about my cat Frodo. I recently took him into my apartment and we’ve been having some trouble. He’s had several UTI infections, but recently the vet diagnosed him with idiopathic cystitis and put him on Elavil. (Elavil is mostly an anti-depressant but also has anti-inflammatory bladder effects in cats.) That works fine, when I am able to give him the pill.
He seems to be happier. But anyway, recently he’s started licking his butt frequently. He’s not peeing everywhere or having trouble with urination or anything, but I’m concerned about this frequent licking. Is it worrisome enough to contact my vet?
Thanks, guys. You guys are such a big help. If you have any questions, just feel free to skim over the recent questions I’ve asked, it’s probably covered there.

I want to get a dog but we live in an apartment and are at work for half the day. Is there such a thing as a litter box trained dog. I don’t know how else to keep a dog without it stinking up my apartment and peeing on my carpet. I’ll take any other potty suggestions.
