I’ve tried putting him in it multiple times and I keep him in a carrier when I go to bed and when I am gone so he doesn’t go anywhere in the apartment. He has a litter box in his carrier but rarely uses that one either. How do I solve this problem?

A little concern about my cat.?

I wasn’t paying attention and don’t know what really happen, but I was in the kitchen cooking when all of a sudden I heard a crash. My cat "Play Tower and Scratching Post" is right near my dresser draw (Sorry it’s the only spot in my apartment I can put it.) I ran out of the bathroom and found everything on top of my draw on the floor and my cat running into the kitchen. I walked in the kitchen to see if he was okay as saw that he was licking his back paw. I called him and he came running and playing as if nothing was wrong, but when I picked him up I notice one of the toe nail on his paw was bleeding a little. I tried to look at it but he started kicking his leg and wouldn’t let me near it. I’m a little concern because the nail on the paw looked a little bent or broken but I’m unsure since he won’t let me near it. Whenever he’s not eating. playing, or running around he licking this toe nail and I’m afraid something might be wrong. Should I take him to the vet or not really worry?

I am starting to feel horrible that my indoor cat never gets fresh air. Do you think he even knows what hes missing? He seems to stair out of the windows a lot.

Any ideas on how I can get some in the apartment? I keep the windows open regularly.

Thanks!

Can I use a cat litter tray for my dog?

I live in an apartment so it isn’t very convenient for me to go outside to let my puppy go to the toilet every hour or so. Does anyone know if it’s ok to use a cat litter tray for my puppy? Or can anyone give me any advice?

I would like to get one dog or cat but truthfully, I’ve always been more of a cat person. I’ve heard cats can’t be left alone without another cat. Can you have just one cat? What breeds are best if you are going to just have one cat in an apartment? What are the best dog breeds?

indoor cat?

i have an indoor 7 month old kitten and i feel like shes bored all the time.
i feel bad keeping her in but i live in an apartment and her going outside is not an option.
i want to know what i should get to keep her entertained.
she loves toy mice and things with feathers, shes not that into balls.
i try and play with her as much as i can but i work 4 days a week so i want something that she can play with on her own.
i was thinking something like this:
http://www.petco.com/product/14465/Claw-Pals-Cat-Tree.aspx
or
http://www.petco.com/product/105595/Panic-Mouse-360.aspx

any suggestions?
both of those are kind of pricey so are there any cheaper versions at walmart or something?

thank you so much for all your answers!!:)

How do I get my dogs to get along with my cat?

Okay, so…

Back in December, my boyfriend and I made a short move out to the state of Wyoming and back. He had a cat at the time that we could not take with us, and we left it with my sister. She already had two cats, a male and female, who from December to now could not manage to get along with his cat. She wanted to keep him, but her cats were always fighting with him. So, today we decided to try bringing him home to our apartment.

When we were out in Wyoming, we got a German Shepherd puppy (now almost 8 months). I also already had a pomeranian (age 4 1/2). Those two get along okay, not great, but the pom tolerates the puppy pretty good. They aren’t best friends, as the puppy is too energetic for the pom’s liking. But I digress back to the cat.

So, we brought him home today.

Immediately the GSD went up to the cat carrier and the cat got PISSED. He started hissing and spitting and swatting. We tried to introduce them slowly, taking the cat out of the carrier and holding him and letting them sniff each other. The cat ran behind the TV. So, we got the cat out, and put him up in a high spot on his cat tower. He stayed there for hours. At first he was still growling and hissing, then he was quiet, and just stayed up there.

Later on, I took him down, to take him in the other room - away from the dogs - to give him attention. He was just tense. Curled up in a corner. Wouldn’t move.

So, I brought him back out to the kitchen, and put him on the table with his food and water. He wants no food, and no water. Still won’t move from wherever I put him. He took a few swats at the german shepherd.

Whenever we pet the cat, or pay attention to the cat, the dogs go nuts. Barking, whining, circling. The cat gets more nervous.

What can I do?

I’ve tried backing them off into the other room, telling them to sit, lay down, saying no when they bark. They’re too worked up to listen. They’re normally very obedient. Even the leave it command doesn’t work with this situation.

Will it get better over time?

I’m feeling really bad for the kitty!

My cats love catnip and I’m really new to gardening but would like to grow it for them. The problem is I live in an apartment so it must be in containers. I know it’s supposed to spread like wild fire when it grows, so is it even ok to plant it in pots?

The other question is, would it be better if I kept it in the house? I don’t care if my cats destroy it, which they probably will LOL, but I’m afriad leaving it outside will attract many stray cats and my landlord will get upset about it.

Any other tips about growing it would be great, thanks.

how do i make my outdoor cat into a indoor cat?

i have two outdoor cats which are about 7 years old. i am soon moving from a house with a big garden into an apartment in a different country. i don’t know if bringing them with me would be a good idea because it could be hard for them to adapt to becoming only a indoor cat. what would be the best thing for me to do? and how do i help to make them only indoor cats?

Basically, I have a stray cat that I took in. I believe based off her behavior that her previous owner had her do her business outside and let her outside during the day. She’s happy to stay in at night but when I leave for work in the morning she bolts out the door. I don’t want to punish her for doing this and I’m afraid to simply lock her inside because she might start to meow loudly and the neighbors might hear and complain. (Technically, I’m not supposed to have pets in my apartment and could get evicted over this. I’m planning on moving to a residence that allows them ASAP) I need her to want to stay inside. Any ideas? I have lots of toys in the apartment for her to play with and a cat perch. Part of me is thinking to just let her be an outdoor-indoor cat until I move to a residence that allows cats. And as far as taking her to an animal shelter is concerned, none of the no-kill shelters in my area will take her.
