I’ve had this reoccurring dream for the past year. It isn’t the same dream after dream, but it occurs often. I can usually try to change it, since I usually do with most of my dreams, but sometimes it changes back to what it originally was. It’s very vivid, since I can remember it and such. The sounds are very sharp, since I can remember most of the dialog in each of them.
Unlike my lucid dream, this one is very difficult to change. I guess I should tell you what it is:
In the beginning, I am sitting on some kind of wooden post. It’s like a guard house, or a watch house someone on a border. I think it’s like a border between the United States, and someplace else. Perhaps the border leaving the country.
I am with my mother and brother. I remember hearing my father, but he disappears randomly, like telling us to "go on ahead" and "I’ll stay here". I watch my mother and brother climb out of the side of the wooden structure like it’s "no biggy". I’m pretty sure my depth perception is out of whack in most of my dream. (Ex: If I’m crossing what seems to be a narrow ditch, once I outstretch a limp over the edge toward the other side, the narrow ditch becomes a wide canyon. Leaving me to spasm from panic and wake up, haha.) They climb out like monkeys, but cat-like. I take my time, since I’m wondering how they go so fast. I wonder the same exact thing every time I have this dream, and I never seem to progress any better each time. There is like a fence or a beam that they balance on, and they use the fence to leave the wooden look-out.
Once we finally get to the ground, I always notice that I am standing on the side of a road. On our side is the wooden thing, and possibly woods. We are standing on sand-like gravel. Once my mother sees no cars, we raise across the road in a gorilla-like fashion. (Yes, very odd, but most of my dreams also pin-points how I love animals and their behaviors. Also, my brother likes to move about like a gorilla to annoy me, since he has really long arms. Anyway…)
We approach something like a military-training sort of obstacle. It’s a small maze where we need to find our way through. We are going through a barbwire of tunnels, so we can see the guards standing beside this large fence above us. I still can not understand why they did not catch us by now. They could have noticed our figures rampaging through the barbwire tunnel maze.
I’m guessing we enter a building since the maze finishes at a house air-vent. My family and I move through it until my mother finds an opening where we slide out of the ceiling and into a very large house. I finally am guessing that we are running from the United States. Illegal immigrants?? Both my parents were born out of the Untied States, but they were accepted as citizens. My brother and I were born there, so I am wondering the entire time why the heck we are doing this. I also begin to wonder if it’s like a movie.
We are sneaking through the house for an unknown destination, avoiding fat white men (for some reason, I am not against any large person at all) and we find a closet with a secret passage. We realize that only my brother and I can fit, and my mother can not. While she eggs us on, my brother goes ahead, and I find myself crying for my mother. I don’t know why I suddenly feel sad, maybe because a large man is about to get her, since he has notice her go into the closet. He had her by her leg, and I try to beat him with small stuffed animals I find in a basket. Of course, I can not make him let go of my mother, and she is dragged off while I sleek my way in the tunnel. At the end of the long tunnel, there is a bright light, and I wake up.
I find it very odd that I keep dreaming about this. No matter how hard I try, even if I do realize it’s a dream, I can not change it. The majority of my dreams are lucid, and I can control a lot. In this one, I somehow can’t. It’s starting to annoy me that I keep having them, since I hate having the feeling of bad depth perception and having to run away from people.
Any thoughts?
