So I have 4 cats and have questions…?
well two that I got first have some…. weird behaviors. When the younger one of the two goes into heat, the older one tries to mount her.. And I was wondering why she would do this? I mean they are both girls it doesnt really make sense to me. Also Ive just gotten this female kitten and I was also wondering if she sees this behavior if she will try to copy it from them?
About my fourth cat, shes the oldest of the 4, and when we got her the lady said she needed to be the boss and the other 3 needed to know that. Well they dont mind her, they dont hiss, or growl or anything, but when they try to play or even just walk by her she attacks them, or growls and takes off running. And since shes been here I’ve noticed shes lost a lot of weight since from when we first got her. I was wondering what i could do to help her get along with the others and help her gain her weight back. I’ve tried giving her her own spot in our closet( she likes to hide out in there) we’ve given her her own food dishes, cat box and kitty tower, but she still doesn’t seem happy. How can I make her feel more at home, and at peace with the other 3?

I’ve read multiple times that cats are highly confused about other spayed/neutered cats’ genders. Apparently, intact males perceive neutered females to be (castrated?) males, and there can be plenty of other confusion as well.
It’s like you’re talking about my cats! I had a gay cat too, and don’t worry, it happens and you’re not the first one to experience this! As long as they’re not harming each other or any one. My cat used to mount other males but he was actually hurting and bothering them, so yeah, that was bad.
About you older cat, I had one, just the same. She was also the eldest of our 7 cats. She was jealous of the other cats and she wanted her own dish, her own space and everything. We did make a bit of effort to accomodate her but we wouldn’t give her her own dish, I mean, she has to learn to get along with everyone. She’s not the queen! After a few months, it got better, even though she still didn’t get along with anyone. She did have her moments though, where she would let the others play with her and lick her, lol.
Don’t worry, she won’t die of hunger, she’s just trying to show you that you have to get rid of the other cats. But she’ll get used to it if you don’t give in.
Don’t spoil her too much, eh!
Good luck with your 4 cats
lol girl mount girl seems weird. my girl cat is spayed yet it tries to mount my boy cat. my cat also runs and hisses at my other 2 cats when they try to play with her i guess she dont like attention from them. She has been through alot because we had 2 cats with her both females and older like her sisters and they both died both from cancer. So maybe she misses them idk. what i would do is give the cat you want to gain weight more attention maybe pet her play with her try to feed her mine usually eats when she wants too and she does even though the other 2 cats are their she would eat and hiss and run away and come back to eat if they arnt their.
Cats will mount each other sometimes regardless of their sex they are also not opposed to inbreeding so at least they are female. I recommend having them all spayed. The new kitten may or may not copy. Consider the age of the new cat she has lived somewhere else for four years and needs time to adjust. The cats will figure out their own hierarchy and who will be the boss you can’t control that. I have an older male ( 4-5yrs) and female cat ( 1yr) then introduced a six month old kitten the female warmed up to him in a few weeks. The male hated the kitten and ran from him for 2-3 months and lived in the bedroom wouldn’t even eat near the kitten and this cat does not miss a meal. Now they are all best of friends. The older cat just needs time and patience and is probably not eating regular due to the change. I’ve never seen one starve it’s self so be patience is key. Hope this helps.
First off. Cats can have strange behavior–we’ll probably never know why she does that . I would definitely get any of your cats spayed. That would help immensely. Yes, the kitten may pick up that habit. Lastly It sounds as if the 4 th cat is scared out of her mind. I really feel sorry for her having to hide and is so afraid of the other cats. Well, for some reason or other she was taken from her comfort zone and thrown into total different surroundings and smells and people let alone 3 other cats, one of which is not spayed and goes into heat. It really sounds like she needs a whole room to herself–she may be not able to eat because of the other cats not letting her eat. I would also take her to your veterinarian to see if there is a medical reason for her losing weight. It’s not normal for her to do that. Please seek medical attention for her first. Good luck
Mounting behavior is exhibited in dogs as well as cats, even after they are fixed. This behavior is a "domination" behavior.
As for your oldest, you don’t give us an age for her. Sometimes weight loss is a symptom of an underlying condition (diabetes? kidney disease?) which only the vet can diagnose.
As for peace in the house, there are sprays available that contain a certain "pheromone" that makes the cats "like" each other or other people or DOGS, even. Well, it’s not like magic, but it’s sort of like "kitty cologne" that cats react positively to. You can find these in a good pet supply store, or online. Use as directed, and it may just help them "over the hump" in getting comfortable with others.
