Should I declaw or move my cat first?
I’m planning on moving my cat to my new house from my parents house sometime soon, but at her new home she’ll be a mostly indoor cat so she’ll probably need declawed. Would it be less stressful on her to move her first then declaw or the other way around?

There is NO legit excuse to be declawing because the cat is gonna be inside. ALL of my cats are 100% indoor cats and NONE of them are declawed.
Declawing is mutilation and the older the cat, the more likely you will have behavior and physical problems with declawing. Trim the nails weekly, use SoftPaws nail caps and get a good tall treehouse (minimum of 4-5 feet tall).
Read this about the truth of declawing.

You can have nail inserts put on the cat, they are rounded plastic like coatings that will prevent harm to the furniture, they are not permanent and last a few months before you need to replace them… or even cheaper, buy a good pair of nail trimmers. If your afraid of doing that, most vets will be more than happy to show and assist you.
Do her a favour and leave her at your parents house. Declawing is really cruel and inhumane. Don’t destroy her life for furniture……
Is this what you really want your cat to go through?!

There is no need to declaw your cat. I am sure with some training your cat won’t ruin furniture. Just make sure you have a cat scratcher that your cat knows she can use. Also you an make sure to cut her nails, so they won’t be soo long.
There’s never a good for declawing. And why would you? Declawing is not declawing it’s deTOEING – the surgical removal of the first joint of each of your cat’s toes. How do you think you would feel if someone sawed off yours? It’s such a barbaric and unnecessary thing to do to a cat that it’s illegal in many countries.
Trim her claws regularly and buy her cat posts that she can scratch on. And "mostly" indoors? Why not always? She’s going to end up hit by a car, eaten by a coyote, killed by a loose dog, poisoned, etc, if you continue to let her out.
Why was it she’s allowed claws at their house but not at yours? And if you adopted this cat who signed the papers – you or your parents? If your parents you don’t have the right to take her. Read the contract.
I’m not gonna bother going into how inhumane and cruel it is. Everyone already has, and beautifully.
But if you can read this http://www.declawing.com/htmls/declawing.htm and see how it’s done

Well, that’s really all you need.
Also, Megan, rather confused about your post.
You do realize that a painful surgery that is not medically needed IS animal cruelty.. right?
"Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse or animal neglect, is the infliction of suffering or harm upon non-human animals, for purposes other than self-defense."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruelty_to_animals
In medicine – it’s considered any procedure that’s painful or harmful that is NOT medically necessary.
Those videos, the surgery prep alone is enough to make me think its cruel.
If you don’t want your furniture damaged get a bird or fish.
If you want the cat, get metal furniture.
How would you like for someone to cut all your fingertips off?
Cats scratch….thats their nature. Get a scratching post and a kitty condo to keep your cat occupied.
Declawing should be banned in just some countries, it should be done worldwide!
PS This video explains the after effects and potential hazards of declawing..ENJOY!

You can’t have a cat.
You can either have a cat, or have nice furniture. You can’t have both. Me, I have cats. The furniture is battered but serviceable.
You don’t need to declaw your cat just cause it wil be an indoor cat. What if your cat gets out? It can’t defend itself.
How would you like it if we took your fingers or toes off?? Thats what your doing to the cat!!
Leave it alone. You shouldn’t have a cat if you are just going to declaw it!
