My indoor cat seems to be shedding excessively with flaky skin.?
My indoor cat, 14 yrs, is shedding a great deal on her back, near the base of her tail. Her fur feels oily in that area and seems to clump together. Her skin is flaky as well. I thought that it might be she’s losing her "winter coat," and have been brushing her. This doesn’t seem to be helping. She also looks like she is losing weight. Any idea if there’s a bigger problem here?

she’s just losing her winter fur. she might not be eating as much, so go see the vet about this.
i know exactly whats wrong with her! shes depressed. you are obviously not meeting her needs. gosh you need to be more social with your cats! nah just kidding . maybe shes sick take her to your local vet
it is time for a visit to your vet….there are many different reasons for this to be happening…so take her to the vet ASAP…
Being an older cat, take her to the vet for a check-up. My cat is 10 years, used to have flaky skin and was a little oily. A change in her diet helped, also was over weight. Now she’s on a low carb. prescription diet and is much better, but it is expensive, so if your cat isn’t fat then just try giving her better foods, more protein, less carbs.
Well, is that your only pet? If so it might be lonely that is what was wrong with my cat. We got one from an animal shelter, and they love each other. Don’t have the problem anymore.
