This is common as cats who have this disjointed toe get older…you could have the vet remove it…about $80 plus anestesia costs…or just keep an eye on it like you have been…no need to worry unless it does get painful
I dont think those claws do naturally retract (just checked one of my cats and his is sticking out, too)
Definately keep trimming it- but maybe consult your vet about this- I know dogs have their dew claws removed so maybe they can operate to remove the problem claw.
I believe that claw is called a ‘dew claw.’ I don’t think it retracts, and since they don’t use it for all of their fun, cat activities, it can grow pretty long. You’re doing the right thing by keeping it trimmed. If the cat seems distressed by it, you can always bring her to the vet to have it looked at.
