1) I don’t know if you meant she was only an indoor cat and then she got out by accident and was gone and came back…as you would then know that a fully indoor cat is happy being inside, but the second they get a whiff of what the outdoors is like…all bets are off.
It is like torture to keep them fully inside again. So again..not sure what you meant..but if that is the case…that would contribute to her problem….you are going to have to let her go outside every day at some point so she will be a happy kitty. I feel it’s only fair.
2) Sibling rivalry. She was/is most likely very jealous. A puppy is like having a baby. You must have been giving the puppy way more attention and she is no longer the ‘baby’. Cat’s show their upsetness by poo/pee in the house…sometimes in the cutest places…like your shoes…just to make sure they get your attention.
You may have to call in a specialist carpet cleaner to clean all the places she has gone potty in the house…but if you don’t fix the problem, she’ll do it again. Unfortunately, once a cat does their business inside..that smell never leaves (even if you can’t smell it).
3) If the puppy was not slowly introduced…and then she had trauma while being outside for a month…she is ticked off to the max that you aren’t letting her outside now. Trauma/feeling neglected = poopey in the housey. :’ (
It really is very mean to keep her inside now. You either have to let her out once a day…or you have to find her a new home.
Once a cat does their business in the house (outside of the litter box)…the game is over. Unless someone has some other brilliant idea…that kitty cat wants to be outside…and it’s only fair right?
Sorry…not the answer you wanted…but she stayed away because she was jealous about the puppy..then she liked it outside..now you are keeping her a prisoner. She is ticked even though I know you want her inside to keep her safe.
Please do the right thing for her…not for you….let her out or find her a loving, safe, home that will allow her to go in and out as she pleases. I don’t say that lightly..or put up with indoor poop.
Hope you find the right solution. That’s my take anyway…I’m sorry about it. Happy you found her though..it must have been very hard not knowing where she was or if she was okay.
She has probably gotten used to pooping outside in the wild and so it will take her awhile to get back used to using the litterbox. Does she know where her litterbox is? if not then make it a point to show her. If this doesn’t help, then try to retrain her.
hi, it could just be attention or from trauma from geting the puppy, being missing and not being able to go outside. give her lots of love and affection if you see that she might be about to go a poo put her in litter tray and praise her for using it.
i have a cat who is five and f will ocasionaly just leave little presents here and there especialy if we have bn out for the day and he has missed us.
hope this helps
We had the same problem with our cat. He randomly starting pooping behind our couch. What you need to do is lay down sheets of plastic where she likes to poop then she won’t poop there because she doesnt like the feel of it under her feet. It worked for me so I hope it works for you too.
