my cat is acting strange, like he has an attitude.?
My cats diet, has been a very small dish of milk in the morning, with 3 of those soft treats, some soft food for lunch and a feeding tower of dry food any time he wants it. he has two clean litter boxs, and he knows ware both of them are.
Seems he will poop in his box, and yet he will poop on the carpet in various rooms too. We tried adjusting what food stuffs he eats, but he still does it. Are cats the type that would do that, like a way to get back at us, for some thing we won’t do, that he wants us to? Is that maybe a sign of some thing serious? Would some of the tainted pet food cause that if he was eating some, and we didn’t know it??

god i hate cats
You must have really made him mad.
Feline AIDS. The number one killer of domestic house cats.
It could be a manifestation of a tragic toilet-training episode
sometimes if you leave your pet for a while they feel like u didnt want them anymore and they leave you mean presents to show u they are mad
Milk is very bad for cats most cats are lactose intolerant ask your vet that may be reason he is pooping outside the box because for th sudden urge from the milk.
put the litter box in the toilet lol
Cats are fickel. He’s just being a cat…although, is he old? I know we had a cat that was like 13 yrs old and she knew where to go…she just didn’t.
oh he’s pissed! wat did u do?
i think he is mad at u get along with him hope that will work.
I hate people who hate cats….
Try a new type of scoopable litter
milk isnt very healthy for pets..unless there babies..start giving it cold water..
Are you sure he is not just having runny stool and can’t make it to the box. Milk is bad for cats, and the soft treats could also make him runny. (PS< the feeding tower probably makes the food go bad if air gets in there).
NO, cat’s may try to tell us when something is wrong, but they don’t "try to get back at us." Often it’s a health issue, or sometimes it is something making them sad, upset or feel unwanted, and they are trying to get attention. Don’t turn against him, try to figure out what is wrong:) good luck!
Cut out the milk, it causes digestive issues in cats. You will probably notice he can control his bowels more without the milk in his diet.
Most cats have attitude
I had the same problem. I had one cat allready and when i decided to get two more, one of the two likes to poop out side the clean litter box. When the older cat the first one i had died he now all of a sudded know how to poop in the litter box. Try moving the boxes or try not feeding the wet cat food. Good luck. They do have attitudes. So, try a combination of things.
Mine is even worse. My dog thinks she’s a cat!
She likes to rub herself against whatever.
First off..no more milk. Cat’s really don’t tolerate cow’s milk very well. They do make a "cat milk" at the store but they don’t need milk after they are weaned from their mom’s.
Second…I found this. Maybe it can help.
"There could be several reasons your cat has started to defecate outside of the litter box. If there has been a change in the cleanliness or frequency of cleaning of the litter box some cats will not use it regularly; more frequent cleaning might help. In other cases they can no longer fit into the box because of either weight gain or orthopedic changes; a different box may help. As cats age they often become prone to constipation and may have difficulty defecating and associate the litter box with unpleasant experiences; a veterinary visit and appropriate treatment is needed. If the frequency of defecation has increased, the cat might be experiencing inflammatory bowel disease; again, consult your veterinarian. Determining which one of these applies to your cat may help you get her to use the litter box again. "
He is very mad about something. I have a male cat that liked to poop in corners and pee on my personal belongings when he was mad. Are you giving him enough attention? Has your routine changed? Are you not letting him do something that he wants to do?
Stop the cows milk. Its not good for cats digetstion. He probably cant help poop out of the box sometimes. just feed him a high quality cat food twice a day. Just use treats on a once in a while basis. Your killin the poor guy with kindness sort of speak. A regulated high quality cat food(Science diet, Eukanuba) is the way to go.
Tainted food – yes and probably worse
But I don’t think your problem is tainted food. That would probably make it come out both ends ( yuck )
Is the litter box always clean never stinks? My cat will go everywhere else if her box hasn’t been changed. You can scoop all ya want but ya gotta change it to.
i dont think its anything to do with mental illness or anything \, but i am not sure, so dont push the thought completely out of option.
seems like he just wants to do it. cats dont have a thing called "revenge" thats all human and animals dont seem to work that way, their brains arent as intellectaully developed as ours.
is it constant does he always poop on the carpet like as if he cant help but do it there and hten. if so take him to the vet and u will hopefully get a direct diagnose of the problem at hand.
REMEMBER!!!! NEVER NEVER NEVER give a cat milk, this could be ur problem, cats are lactose intolerant, thats wat causes the rush of diahera and loosies.
please cut out the milk and stick to water, u can get special cat milk and some stores for pets!
hope that helped luv
xxx katie
this is completely normal cat behavior. you did say it was a boy cat didn’t you? if he is’t fixed then he is just being a tomcat. there really isn’t anything you can do about it except put him out side so he can go find a female cat. he will be gone for some time but he will come back and be much happier.
Sometimes cats won’t use their litter box more than once. If they go in it once, they believe that you need to change it immediately. Also, if an animal goes in a certain area in your house, they’re more likely to go there again, even if you clean it with lots of products, because they can still smell it. If he seems healthy otherwise, he probably is just picky about going where there’s already poo.
Put HOT chilli powder in the areas where he’s dirtying. They don’t dirty in strange places out of malice. Get some extra litter boxes and place around the home – he could just be lazy or disorientated and forget where his usual box is situated.
No, cat’s aren’t like that. They wouldn’t try to get back at you.. Although, cat’s can have an attitude. I’ve experience that first-hand! Oy. Sammy.. Anyway, try Iams.. It decreases pets need to eliminate. And, it’s healthy! Pooping on the carpet is NOT normal! I wouldn’t suggest a vet visit, because it’s nothing to do with health.. Only possibly short bladder control, and can’t make it to the ‘box’ but I doubt that. You need to spray him with a water bottle when you catch him in the act. Or, a rolled up newspaper. — a water-bottle is more effective, from my experience, because they HATE water.. But a rolled up newspaper would be the second choice. The reason, because, the cats hate the noise when being swatted, and it makes it a very unpleasant experience .. Therefore, they won’t do it again. You might need to repeat the process a few times before they get it, though. Also, it sounds like you’re feeding him quite a mountain load!!! I would eliminate the soft treats and food, and just give him milk in the morn, and Iams Dry Food all the time.. It’s possible he’s eating to much, thus so, increasing his need to eliminate more often.. Maybe to often.. Could be part of the reason he’s going on the carpet. Anyway, best wishes!!
Well, I guess that depends.
First, how long have you had this cat? If you’ve just gotten it, obviously that behavior is just nervousness. It might take him a while to adjust to his surroundings. You should try keeping him in a small area of your house for a week or two, then in a week or so, introduce him to new rooms, until he eventually knows the whole house.
The type of food, however, shouldn’t effect where it goes, I don’t think. Give the kitty some time!
Also, milk isn’t good for cats. It’s bad for digestion, and it’s better to give them water. If you really have a thing for giving your cat milk, though, I think there’s some kind of cat-friendly milk that you can find at pet stores.
If your pet’s not new, though, I really have no idea, lol!
Having an attitude is normal for a lot of cats.Their personalty is as varied as people. I love cats and know this from years of having them.
The cat food that was tainted doesn’t change their personality it kills them.
Ok so first thing first, if he is a nuetered male, or even just a male, he may be having problems with crystals. They are very common in male cats, the poop in the rooms might just be him trying to pee and straining too hard. Keep a close eye on him.
Second, is all the food he gets the same brand, cats are very well known to be stubburn with various cat food. They have a very sensitive digestive system Keep it down to one brand, and I would stop the milk, milk, believe it or not, is not good for a cat, unless its warm milk, and given in moderation.
Relook at the habits of your cat, Keep a strong eye to what he is trying to tell you, if he/she is crying alot, this could be a bad sign, if you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me, i would love to help
Cats are vidictive if you ignore them or leave them for too long
but not on a regular basis should they poo outside the box…
they are very "clean" about that so I would take them to a vet…
NO WAY would I put up with that more than a day…
Did you have cats before in the house that went where-ever..is it marking his territory (is it fixed)
Could be your food is binding and they need more fish oil type wet food…see the vet to be sure…that’s not a normal thing for an indoor cat.
my cats do that too. the poop out of the litter box what helped us is moving a litter box to where the were pooping, maybe if you do that he will stop pooping out of the litter box.
Milk is not a good thing to give a cat.Milk is like a laxitive to a cat.You should only be given your cat water and nothing else. You can buy this sprinkle stuff that freshens a kitty litter box and my cat cant stand smelling good smelling stuff. She goes right to her cat litter box.
But i think you need to stop giving her milk and start giving her just water..
First of all milk is not very good for your cat. They make special cat milk and you can find it in your grocery store. milk makes a cat sick and gives them diareah that they cant control. Could this be the problem?
Also, you shouldn’t be giving your cat so many treats. You should be feeding your cat hard food ( Iams is the best) and a half can of good soft food daily. Cheaper food is not good, so the more money you spend – the better food you will be giving it.
I hope everything works out. I have kitties and I love them… I have researched all of this b/c of that!
Also, if it is an indoor cat- feed it indoor food.
Get Purina Indoor Formula!
I have a cat that is the same way. I found out that he wasn’t meaning to do it. He would poop and because of his furr not all of it would ‘make its way out’ even though he thought it did. Then later he’d be sitting somewhere and it would fall off. Not sure if thats the problem with your cat or not, but I was mad at mine for years before I figured this out! It was getting hung in his furr the whole time.
Don’t give him any more milk. It’s not good for their digestive systems. Manage his food by leaving it out only when you want him to eat and then make sure he is in a litter box after about 10 or 15 minutes of eating and drinking. That might help urge him to only use the box. Are you leaving him alone too much? Sometimes cats will find ways to get you if you aren’t around enough or playing with them enough. They need attention.
tainted food may make him acted diffrent – but i don’t think thats what it is – he might just be lazy or like you said getting back at you – animals have personalitys anyone who has own a pet knows that! check the food you feed him to make sure it is not tainted – if so go to a vet – SOON
signs of tainted food is normally extreme vomiting
