This type of carpeting is reasonably priced. Check for sales. Sounds like you would like to purchase the cat post with the wood section, so that would solve part of the problem. If you get the one with sisal, the weather shouldn't hurt that part. So there you have it and you are now a designer to boot. Maybe you could get a patten on your re-design.
