You can’t train her to sleep in a cat bed, but if you find one she likes and put it in a good location it will increase the likelihood that she will use it.
Think about where she usually sleeps – hidden away, or in an open area? Then try & find a bed that you think she might like – if she sleeps hidden away, she might like a covered or sack-type bed. If she sleeps out in the open, look for an open-style bed without a top over it. My cats love to sleep on clean towels, so they took naturally to the donut-style terrycloth beds that I bought for them. Check the bottom of the bed to make sure it’s well padded and soft. Some of the cat beds I’ve seen in stores aren’t very well padded on the bottom.
Location is very important – most cats prefer to sleep up high rather than on the floor. Unless your cat spends a lot of time sprawled out in the middle of the floor, it is better to put the cat’s bed up on top of something such as a dresser or chest, so she’ll feel safer. Be sure to put it somewhere that it won’t fall off when she jumps into or out of the bed. Then just leave it out for her to discover on her own. If she likes the bed & the location, she’ll start using it. If she doesn’t use it, look around & try to find another place up on the furniture where she might like to have her bed, and leave it there for several days to give her a chance to try it.
Never in my experience. Cats nap and sleep at night where they choose to do so.
probably, just keep some of her/his favorite toys there and he will eventually sleep there…but if he doesn’t want to, then it won’t happen, cats like to sleep where they want to.
yes
it is possible to train cats, but cats tend to want to sleep where ever they want. if you really want them to sleep in the cat bed, just give it time and your cat will eventually sleep in it.
Maybe if you rub it with cat nip, but I doubt it. Cats nap just about wherever they want when they want.
Hi there. This is what worked for me. Rub her favorite treat on the cushion of her bed. The smell will attract her. You can try cat nip, but some cats do not respond to it. Have a purrfect year.
absolutely
well they can be tough to train– our cat has 3 different beds and she takes spells and sleeps in them once in a while- she loves to lay on my computer chair, and she doesn’t like it when she gets shoved off.
Just like kids they love boxes some times she lays on my bed– just every where when she wants to do it
Try putting a piece of your unwashed clothing or bed sheet (so it has your scent) on the cat bed or a very soft blanket. The cat should find either quite attractive and the bed become a prized spot to sleep.
Yes!! actually i train my cat to sleep in her bed… the only thing that u have to do is dont let any other thing that the cat can use to sleep…just put the cat bed and the cat in some empty space and when the cat dont have any other thing to sleep his gonna use the cat bed.
No. You cannot train a cat to do anything. You are just here to serve the cat.
If you want the cat to sleep in a certain place you have to make it a place the cat wants to sleep weather you like it or not. The cat is not there to do things you want. You are just part of the cats "Staff", to serve and obey the cat.
I know this from 45 years of experience with cats.
I think so. This is how, I’d do it if, I were you.
Right after you get the bed, find the kitty, genly lift it up, put it into the bed and tell it, that’s where, it’s supposed to sleep. Or, just show it the bed snd let the cat see, if it knows, to sleep in the bed, you provided for them.
Good luck and i hope your kitty gets to know what to do.!
Probably, my cat just sniffs it and then sleeps on it!
If you REALLY want to train it to sleep on a cat bed, than you might have to sprinkle on some catnip!
yea just put catnip in the bed
Just put the cat bed next to any heat register…my cat loves laying where ever it’s warm….
you can try, like they say anything is possible. personally, i have never been able to do that. they just sort of lay wherever they choose to.
I bought my kitten a cat bed, but she never uses it! I have to pick her up and put her in there and she never stays in there for more than a minute or so. Im guessing just put some catnip on the bed so they get a scent and maybe start using it. I never tried it yet, but I heard it works!
With GREAT difficulty. In my experience, cats will siply sleep where they want and refuse to sleep where they do not want – whatever you do. So those cat beds? They are useless.
Cats like to sleep where they can look about usually up high. Most cats like to sleep near a wall where their back is secure.
I don’t think it’s possible to train a cat to do anything.
I do have a cat bed, and they sleep in it sometimes. What i did was just put a bit of catnip in the bed, and after they got done acting like hooligans, they would sleep in the bed. My cats do seem to prefer soft fleece blankets throw on a couch though.
sure if you can train him
