My cousin had 3 little kitten ages 5-8 weeks and they would all climb it to the top and sit on top of it. It was really funny to watch because one would lunge at one if it was on the top. They learn pretty fast how to climb and you want to teach her now that the tree is the place to scratch, and not your furniture. The kitten may climb to the top and you will have to rescue her a few times, but she will learn. IMO its better to invest in a decent tall treehouse now then to waste money on those little posts that will be outgrown in a very short time.
