Both previous answers are incorrect.
Feral cats DO form colonies, however, there is not a single leader. They do not share food. Males and females will not bond or socialize at all unless they are mating, after which, they separate and don’t spend any more time together. Siblings and parent/children families may stick closer together than others. Mostly it’s just a loose congregation without any structure and with several pecking orders inside the colony.
