I have a yellow lab who likes to clean my cat box, will this hurt him?
Sometimes my cats will go outside of there cat box and my yellow lab likes to clean up after them. Will this hurt him? I have heard that dogs actually crave this and it is ok. It’s not like i like it but should i take extra precautions to prevent this?

Yes it will!! My dog used to do it and we thought it was funny, but harmless. Hundreds of dollars in vet bills later, my dog had an infection, a secondary infection, and her fur all fell out. Or actually, her infection caused her to chew herself bald and raw. Bad tootsie rolls.
Possibly, cat poop carries all kinds of parasites and bacteria.
The litter is not good for the dog at all, but as long as he doesn’t eat to much of it, it won’t hurt him. I use to raise Labs and they did the samething. A little won’t hurt, but try to keep him from it, cuz a lot of it may hurt his indegestion system. I use to turn my litter box around to the wall so that the cat could get in, but harder for the dog.
Cat feces can contain toxoplasmosis, and would likely make your dog pretty sick. In fact, it already sounds pretty sick.
Your dog might be missing valuable nutrients in his diet and although the cat poop won’t hurt him, the type of litter you use may be toxic to him. Therefore you should take precautions to keep him/her out.
I think he will be fine as long as he dont slip in it and break a leg.
Yes, cat carry alot of parsites in there poop. And the litter is hard for a dog to diegest. I will hurt him in the long. So if you can put the litter box where the dog can’t get at it. It will save you money in vet bills in the long run.
